Just read the following in Top Sante magazine:

'You need to overeat 3,500 calories to put on a pound. In other words, that one KitKat won't make you fat - you'd need to eat over 34 of the two fingered tempters to gain one measly pound.'

Gets things in perspective doesn't it..!

Pet, there has been a couple of dropouts from Wimbledon, Carlos Moya been one of them!! Is that the end of the world??...

No great shakes Suggs, he's not known for his grass court achievements he's a clay court specialist and can't deal with the transition from clay to grass, so too are the other two who have dropped out, Monaco and Chela, although the latter can throw up a surpise sometimes, but he's not having too good a year anyway. As long as Gonzo and Nadal don't drop out I'm :j I'm awaiting the seeding listing to see just how much it's been manipulated as compared to the ATP rankings!...

...Lois Why does it seem then, that we gain when we know that we can't possibly have had 3500 calories extra  it always puzzles me. I think if I had over 34 kitkats I'd put on a stone not a lb :D ...

...Starlight Keep a food diary if you don't already. Or try varying your diet a bit, mine gets very samey after a while without realising and the weight loss stagnates, and a change seems to reboot it. The dreaded plateau usually visits us all sometime during a diet but it always passes, so don't get disheartened...

Can I join in? I joined Slimming World last week, after my weight loss stopped for a couple of months (after coming off medication last year that made me gain loads it was coming off without me doing anything).

I'll be going to my second SW meeting tonight, so I will find out then if I've lost any weight. It's been hard going this first week, mainly because I find it really hard to shop by myself and the only food I had in seems to be chocolate (I've just moved to my new flat, so I'd been using up all my food until I got a fridge).

Based on last week's weight, I have 6 stone 1 1/2 pounds to lose now (and I've already lost 2 1/2 stone in the last few months, so I'm pretty optimistic :)).

Morning all :) - I hope everyone's well today and not suffering from hay fever (like me :()

So few posts this morning, where is everybody..?
beanielou - All Im saying is that I must overreat quite a lot then lol

That's how I read it too, Beanie, but if you look at it from another perspective, it means you have to underreat a lot (I'm sure there's a more grammatical way to put that!) in order to lose a pound, hence the difficulties of losing. If a person eats 500 calories per day less, that would be 3500 calories or 1lb each week, over a long period it soon mounts up.
Petrichor - Why does it seem then, that we gain when we know that we can't possibly have had 3500 calories extra  it always puzzles me. I think if I had over 34 kitkats I'd put on a stone not a lb :D ...

I'm not going to test the theory... :rotfl: but I guess it's the complexities of the human body, fluid retention, or irregularity!
starlight - Ive sts for the THIRD consecutive week and Im ready to pack WW in once and for all. Problem is what on earth do I change to :(

Hi Starlight - sorry to hear you're struggling. As Pet says, it's worth making some changes to your regular diet as you may be in a rut. If you're considering changing to a completely different plan, I really recommend Slimming World, and I know there are a few others here who are fans too, and who would be able to help you get to grips with it.

Have a good day all, good luck to those who are weighing in.

    Morning All

MrsS son turns 16 today, he is doing his moped CBT and then off he rides!! So anyone hearing a hairdryer on wheels in my area, its not me :D

Efrieze, thanks for the note to missy, I still have not made it outside to run, my guess is that I would be slower than my gym time, for the reasons you say. It will be interesting. Missy you up for it?

Mick, re gym equipment, I think they are 'Concept' but I am going later so will let you know. Edit - Its all 'Precor' branded hope that helps.

Welcome Danni, very friendly bunch here and having lost 2 1/2stone already, Im sure you will be a big loser soon :)

As I say to all the newbies, Having a look at the links and before and after pics on the first page may well help and encourage.

    Evening all,

I'm thinking about buying a treadmill - however I have no idea about what I should be looking for spec wise.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?
