The Great ‘Crucial Phone Numbers’ Hunt: Easy numbers for when things go wrong.

But remember virtually no freephone numbers are free to call from a mobile.
However, it is possible to make free freephone calls from your mobile's inclusive minutes (if you have a contract with gives you those) by using one of the below gateway (dial-through) numbers. If one doesn't work for you, the other will:
0200 222 0900
0200 222 0700
Neither of these worked on my orange phone. Just got an NU sound. Anyone got any other ideas?0 -

Both of these work fine for me from landline, Orange contract, Vodafone contract, o2 prepay, Orange prepay.

If you can't dial either of these from your network, it may be because your network does not recognise "020 0" as a valid dialing code.
If you have problems, give this number a try as it has a "normal" Southampton area code:
02380 030800
When you dial, the number doesn't ring - it just goes straight to a dialtone. At this point you dial the 0800/0808/0500 number (no need to press # etc).
The service also seems to connect a little quicker and more often than the 0200 numbers.Mobilez

A number you might want to call BEFORE an emergency is 0845 9 88 11 88 - it's the Environment Agency's Floodline number.
Give them your postcode and they will tell you whether you live in a flood risk area. Give them some more details and they will arrange to send you (by text, e-mail or phone call) a warning whenever there is one issued for your area.
This won't work for flooding when the drains can't cope, but will work for flooding from the sea, rivers or estuaries.
Thought this was timely as it's one year since the June floods that swamped large parts of Yorkshire, the Midlands and East Anglia.
In Yorkshire the non-emergency Police number is 08456 06 06 06.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
The amount of rubbish I've been told by shop assistants when I've gone in with a problem with an item or service has been far too often, so I keep the number of Trading Standards in my mobile.
I find them so helpful and in every case, as a result of the help I've had from them, I've had all repairs/replacements/refunds as I'm entitled to by law. I've saved myself so much money as well, so often you get a shop assistant say..'that's not covered by your warranty...so that will cost.......'
The sort of rubbish I've been told in shops is ....we can only fix the problem if you'd told us within 28 days (they fixed it within a week). Those items with your mobile are not covered by your warranty (they replaced the items within 7 days), we own your mobile because your contract is not complete, therefore we will not return your phone unless you pay for the repairs (I got a fully fixed phone within 7 days).
The number I use is 01622626521, which is the South-East region number. There is a national number and other regional numbers.
I even give it out to friends, who have all said how helpful they've been and after battles with companies, their problems got resolved.0
