    justamum - Happy Birthday!:bdaycake:

hugs to hollyh's DS2. Lots of DVD's and bicarbonate of soda in the bath.

I managed to get some time in on the allotment this morning, planted out the sprouting broccoli, fenced off my peas as my lovely site manager told me that he saw loads of pigeons eating them, and also weeded a bed. It wouldn't stop drizzling though.

I have also done several school runs - DS1 and 2 first thing, then DD and friend to an exam, then picked up DS1 from his exam...He did his Product Design A2. He says that he managed to do three out of four questions - it was the sort of paper where you have to choose one each from three sections, and then one more from any section. He only did the three, so is going to be 25% down. I just hope that he managed to cover enough to get some marks for those sections. The teachers on this course have been absolutely useless, and haven't covered any of the syllabus at all as far as I can tell. They only told me about the text book in January, and so we've gone through that at home on our own.

I must also confess that the picture flowers are just a virtual bouquet, but in a minute I'm going to get DS1 to show me how to put on a photo of the real flowers...

Have just been skimming through the thread - hugs to AnW'smum....I am actually wearing a yellow top today but have also put the pile of National Geographic magazines (they have yellow covers) on the dining table to act as an extra prayer. Hope your day isn't too fraught. ((((((((((((((((((AnW'smum)))))))))))))))))))

Taurus - have you read any Katie Fforde? Wild Designs is one of my favourites, and if I'm feeling unwell, is one of those books I choose to curl up with (if I don't feel great, I always choose a book I know really well, and don't need to make an effort with!).

And if this is to be a relevant post - how do you cope with storing all the books you buy? Do you have a 'library' or book room? I confess that I've always wanted a book lined room all to myself. We just have bookshelves on almost every wall, including a ceiling high set on the upstairs landing (excellent use of space, and you can stand on one of the shelf edges when climbing into the loft space from the step ladder). I really must get those shelves dusted next time the landing turns up.

I haven't read any Katie Fforde but she is on my list now! As for coping with storage - I have to admit it is getting very difficult as I have been collecting books all my life and I can't bear to let one go once it has come through my door. I don't have ONE dedicated book room - they are ALL dedicated book rooms (except the bathroom because of the steam). The children are almost as bad and have books stacked on, under and on top of shelves and my DS2 keeps a row of them at the bottom of his bed (he has a high bed with a rail round. His feet don't quite reach the end so he keeps his "I intend to read these next" choices there.:rotfl:

Hi everyone - where has this week gone? I've been rushing about like a mad thing but don't seem to have done much.

    Happy Birthday to Justamum
AnWsmum - thinking of you today (i have a beautiful yellow flower in my hair)
Lilmei - hope you are feeling better soon. Great news about the caravan - much more use than a holiday in Florida. I don't think we'll be going again for a while. Flight prices are going through the roof so we have decided to sell our villa out there. Can't keep pouring money into it. The upkeep is as much as our house over here that is occupied all year.

Hope everyone has a great weekend if i don't manage to post again today.

Still love looking at the picture of your house in your avatar....how old is it?

Thank you - 18 months in we still come round the corner and fall in love with it all over again. There has been a building on the site for a long time, we were told that it was originally a stone built barn that was converted in 1880 - however in between the beams are reeds bound with mud which dates it as much older. I have done a bit of research on it but need time without the children to do any more. Used to be a bakers and a house but got converted back to one house in 1940s. I can't get it all on one picture as it is 25 metres long (but only one room deep) but this one is taken from the road and shows about two thirds of it!

Looks lovely from the outside but the inside is . We have dry rot, woodworm, a 1950s kitchen so a sink and a table, an avocado green bathroom, mould growing up the walls and shot plaster throughout, the distant sound of the M1 and quarry blasting in the garden and a mortgage that means we will never ever eat properly or go out for the night again.

Time to hoover, and then off to collect DS1.

    Hiya
SSL - dd is back at school thankyou. She's not 100% but pretty nearly there.
Justamum - have a great birthday
Serena - I loved the house at riverton so will look out for her new one. katie Fforde is one of my favourite too. Have you read any Erica James? Also, how's the allotment coming along? Ours if finally getting organised with 6 long beds with paths between each for each access. Roots in two, brasiccas in two and other stuff in the other two. It's only taken three years to get this far, lol. We're hoping to start fencing it this weekend as we've been given some fence posts.

I've done no flying today. I'm in a pretty 'can't be ar*ed' mood. Auntie Flo is back for the second time this week. I've decided to have some jabs in September that will put me, temporarily in the menapause, a trial run so to speak. If I can cope this the symptoms then i'm going to have the big H next year. Don't want to have the jabs before incase I have hot flushes etc from hell - I want to enjoy my holiday first, lol.

Hope everyone's having a good day xx

AnWsmum thinking of you all today.
