Oh good grief - your poor friend. I have heard and read that this can happen - must be some truth in it I suppose. Perhaps I'd better go and join Tesco E diets or something.
Yea I know it's a shame, if I thought it'd work and not affect my metabolism i'd do the CD again, but daren't risk it now:o

as an overweight watcher of this thread i have come to think that most people over eat for a reason, for years i was dead on 8.5 stone at 5ft 7in after losing my mother i noticed the weight creeping on but didnt notice how often i was going to the sweet items etc, perhaps Paul Mc method works by re adjusting the reasons we overeat or why? the low cal works by food intake but yes what happens once people come off the special foods does the weight creep up again because the main issues have not been dealt with? If there was a correct easy way we would all be doing it, have a good dig around and see what will work for you but ask your self why do i overeat? what do i really want ?and by when? good luck.

The thing to do when you "finish" any diet is NOT to go back to eating how you did before - if you do what you always did, you'll get what you always did - fat. Easier said than done, but the truth. Anyone with an eating problem or issues around food will HAVE to do some form of diet for ever if they want to keep the weight off.

Just wanted to ask if any one has done lighter life? I know it costs loads but any good experiences?

I'm 17.5 stone and fed up! I don't want to go along the lines of gastric band/by pass. I was 20 stone but I feel I have just stalled with trying to lose weight.

    Any advice well
    bunty.

    Hi Buntyblue

I have never tried it but a few of the girls at work have and itis expensive but it does work - if you stick to it!

I'm not a doctor so dont know about how healthy is is but i do know they dont eat a lot while on the diet but manage to shift a few stone each and it does it quite quickly.

I know how you feel - it just takes tooooooooooooooooo long to lose weight the healthy way but be careful as some of the girls have now put the weight back on.

Well done on losing weight so far and good luck to you - I have to say the only way i have ever managed to loose weight healthily before is through Weight Watchers

My advice would be dont bother, I looked into it last year and from what I could see it wasnt very good for you and it didnt teach anything about modifying eating habits so as soon as you came off it you would start gaining weight again.
I know how hard losing weight is, check out my signature, you really do have to want it for yourself. I've lost nearly 5 stone (I started at just over 17.5 stone), and I've had bad weeks, very bad weeks and "oh just forget it" weeks, but over all I've learned to eat more sensibly and that exercise is the key to the weight just falling off. No magic pill or super milkshake is going to do it for you, the ONLY thing that will make you thinner is hard work and discipline. I wish it weren't (no-one hates exercise as much as me, trust me on that) but it is the only thing that works long term.

Oops :o Shall I get off my soap box now? :D

Everyone who looses weight gets to a stage where their weight loss stalls.

The best thing you can do to continue losing weight is to increase your metabolic rate; and the way to acomplish this is by exercising.

Maintain your healthy eating or what ever eating plan you have been using to reduce your weight; but try to increase the exercise you are doing.

Good methods of exercise to increase your metabolic rate are swimming as it uses nearly every single muscle in your body; and is a great way to exercise if you are elderly or suffer from any joint/back conditions etc; as there are different swimming techniques you can use.

If you are fit and able I would suggest you incoporate some weight lifting into your exercising; this doesn't have to be to the extreme; but the more muscle you build; the higher your metabolic rate will be, meaning you burn more fat off without having to exert as much energy; as your resting metabolic rate will also be higher.

Im not saying you have to be a muscle god/godess but even slight increases to muscle mass can help increase your metabolic rate and aid the burning of fat.

Also ensure you drink plenty of water and make it a habit; drink as soon as you wake; before each meal and after each meal and before bed.

Your at a stall at the moment; but keep with it; look at making gradual changes and introducing different types of exercise and you will soon see it drop off.

Good luck; you have made excellent progress so far!

Diets have a notorious habit of causing weight loss, which then gets put back on. With some diets that have rapid weight loss, the first weight that comes off is often due to the body losing water not fat. Sorry to say this, but the only way to keep weight off (without surgery) is to change your lifestyle habits.

If you feel that you need support while losing weight, it might pay to have a word with your doctor. A lot of primary care trusts will now pay for the first ten sessions in clubs like Slimming World (or whatever it's called).

You might also want to check out a book/pack by Paul McKenna called "I can make you thin". It apparently has a relatively high success rate, because it focuses on changing habits rather than cutting back on food. Amazon lists it with 216 reviews, and 154 of them giving 5 out of 5 stars.
