Thanks trinnylilac. It was the easiest and the hardest diet I've ever done, if that makes sense.

The weightlossresources online is at http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/

There's a 3 day free trial, but then you have to pay. Still worth for me though as it's cheaper than the clubs. It does work better in the long term as you can set up food plans and favourites which makes it easy to input everything. Still....if you enter everything in the first 3 free days, it might give you and idea of whats going wrong for you. Good luck.

  • I started Lighterlife this morning so i haven't got to the ketosis part yet but i'm optimistic it will work. Plus when you have over 3 stone to lose programmes like weightwatchers and slimming world don't give quick effects that can keep you motivated! Everyone is different but if you think you are having trouble controlling the amount and what you eat programmes with councelling are more helpful!
  • Best of luck Miss Worry. The first 3-4 days might be tough, but drink loads of water and hold on.

After day 4, you'll probably feel better than you have in a long time :)

Louisepp - Congratulations on such a brilliant weightloss and clothes size.:T

I got a little confused with your post only in as much as you did the Cambridge Diet and not Lighterlife?

I did the Cambridge diet many years ago when I only had about 18 lbs to lose but I think I only liked the strawberry flavour milkshake. I presume it has all changed since then though. Just wish I only had 18 lns to lose now I can tell you!!
It was interesting to read that Cambridge Diet make Lighterlife as well............so what's the difference except a lot more money??

Thanks for the link to the weigh loss resources. I'm going to have a look at that properly.

I usually buy The Sun on a Friday because they have a section on weight loss and tips. If you have a lot of weight to lose they say that trying the ng Cambridge diet for the first few weeks helps to shift the weight faster and as least you know you are having all the right vitamins.

You can do the Paul Mackenna system for free (Sky one, Monday, 9pm) or

I've been on it 2 weeks and already lost 6lbs eating whatever I like.

Only 2% of people on a diet succeed, Mackenna's system apparently has a 71% success rate.

Is that the same as his I Can Make You Thin book and CD?
I looked at the site but can only see that it applies to people who have already finished the four week course. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place!

Lighterlife is made by Cambridge. I chose Cambridge as it has lots more flavours, tastes nicer and is half the price:T

It's basically the same thing though.

BTW, I lost 8 stone and have kept it off for over a year (13 months 3 weeks....to be exact:D)

Mmmm given me food for thought now. Think I'll have a little think about this one ;). Many thanks. You have certainly given us some good informative information here.

I think the PMcK way, is an excellent way to go if you can get your head around it. There again, every 'diet' needs some sort of head change  (not that PMcK is really a diet). I use a bit of GL, some PMcK, exercise and mostly healthy eating, though I do have other things on occasions to maintain my weight.

I'm not sure how seriously we can take the success rate of PMcK though. Surely it hasn't been going long enough with enough people doing it to compare:think: Most statitics take from 2,5 and 10 year maintenance figures.

BTW, the Cambridge/Lighterlife/Lipotrim diet isn't for the feint hearted. Yes, regardless of common misconceptions due ignorance about the diet, it is safe. Even some hospitals use it. It was the easiest and the hardest diet I've ever done, but it possibly saved my life.

I've never heard of Lipotrim but take it it's along the same lines as Cambridge & LL :undecided ?
  • Yes. It's similar. It's about the same price as Cambridge I think, but again, the meals don't taste as nice.

Lipotrim is done through the pharmacist at certain chemists, so some people find it more convenient if they don't have a Cambridge counsellor locally. The pharmacist weighs you each week and advises.
