Thanks so much for the link-have registered and read some of the horror stories. Am asking some questions on there now so I can finally decide. Thanks again.0

I'm on lighter life at the moment but looking to leave because they have started to take the michael with prices. Does anyone know where to get similar food packs and drink powders from? I've looked at GNC and boots but can't find similar.
Cheers,

Crash diets don't work, you'll just end up putting all the weight back. When you start eating normally again your body will go into shock and store as much fat as it can get, hence the weight will returnI haven't got one!0

You can do the Paul Mackenna system for free (Sky one, Monday, 9pm) or
http://www.skyone.co.uk/mckenna/
I've been on it 2 weeks and already lost 6lbs eating whatever I like.
Only 2% of people on a diet succeed, Mackenna's system apparently has a 71% success rate.0 -
Crom Try the Cambridge diet. Cambridge make the Lighterlife stuff anyway
The flavours are much better, more variety and half the cost, otherwise it's a very similar idea
I've lost 7 and half stone with Cambridge and kept it off for 7 months so far. WoopeedoodleCambridge Weight Plan Consultant0 -
I did Cam for a month last year. Lost 21lbs but put it all back on and a great deal more too. Wish I could stick to these things
. It costs about £35 a week for 21 soups/shakes or bars. Now Im doing just healthy eating but I wish I could lose weight as quick.
Good luck.
PS I think lighter life is about £60 a week for the same stuff but you need a GP to sign you off as suitable. You also have to go to meetings every week that deal with the overeating issues you have. For both diets you need to be at least 3 stone over weight.0 -
I know two people at work who did lighter Life and when I left a year ago on maternity leave they were looking fab and very svelte. One is very tall and went from a size 20 to a size 12/14 and the other is about 5ft 4 and went from a size 16 to a size 12.
I went back two weeks ago to arrange a start back date and both back to where they started.
If anything the tall girl looks bigger now than when she did before.
I think if you are desperate, it may be worth doing for a month or so to kick start everything but the problem with it is you can't stay on it forever and you have to start eating "normally " again at some point and thats when
it usually piles it back on.
I really wish I had an answer for you as I would love to lose weight but unfortunatly as we all know it isn't easy.
I have been doing slimming world ( green days) for a week and put on 2 lb so I am really fed up  .
If I was going to do a diet like this I would probably just do slimfast instead as I believe the shakes have the same calorific value anyway.Plus its much cheaper .The only thing is you don't get weighed and have your wee checked for keytones every week so you would have to have that magic thing called will power.
Good Luck0 -
I'm sorry trinnylilac, I don't agree with doing it for a month to kickstart. To do this kind of diet properly, it takes 2 months to come off it. You can't just stop the diet, you have to do the stabilisation properly or it will go back on.
I went from a size 24 to a size 14. Did the stabilisation, which gradually increases food back in a controlled manner, and now follow a healthy eating plan. 7 months later I weigh a little under what I did when I reached target with Cambridge.
People go so wrong with the diet. They just do the first stage and wonder why it all piles back on. You have to do the refeeding part. You also need to remember that if you are very overweight, you have a weight problemOnce you are slim with Cambridge, Lipotrim or Lighter Life, you are slim but with a weight problem....just like any other diet really. It's like an alcoholic, you don't just not become one when you stop drinking, you have to watch your weight for the rest of your life.
As for slimfast. I wouldn't do that any more. BTW with Slimfast, you have to have an evening meal as they haven't managed to produce a product with enough vits and minerals. All VLCDs (Cam. LL and Lipotrim) take you into ketosis which stops you feeling hungry....that's a great help
Cambridge also have an add a meal week every 5, to introduce healthy food. I have to say that it was easier to just stick to Cambridge than have the meal as well. Taking food out of the equation was easiest for me.
Slimming World or any other diet that has free foods didn't work for me after a while. To lose weight you must eat less calories that you burn. I ate too many free foods I think.
An excellent alternative to SW or WW is the WLR (weight loss resource) online.
This is a way of counting calories. You can't help but lose weight if you follow that plan. As long as you keep to it, your cals out will be less than your cals in. Some people use WLR along with SW and WW to make sure they don't eat too many free foods.
A VLCD is a real commitment for the very overweight. It works. You lose about a stone a month (more at the beginning...I lose 3 stone in the first 2 months), but you must do it properly and that includes the refeeding part. Then, just like any other diet, you have to watch yourself forever.Cambridge Weight Plan Consultant0 -

I imagine the reason why the girls I know have put the weight back on is because they haven't done the stabilisation part
I can only go on my experience of people I know who have done this diet and ended up putting all the weight back on .
I too seem not to agree with SW and have decided that I will calorie count for a month and see how that goes.. I will try the weight loss resource online , do you have a direct link.
Also well done on your weight loss thats a big loss, it must have been hard work .0
