If I phone my Pizza Hut they know who I am if I ring from home - my name, address etc and what my usual order is - they dont know what books I take out from the libray - yet :eek:Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

LOL, just testing whether anyone notices ;-))
You are absolutely right, "1984" is George Orwell. Thanks for putting me straight!0 -
The OP's postcode was as Ivan said for logging where their customers come from, but as Ben says this is usually (always) followed with "and your house number?".
If the shop only wanted demographics they could just ask:
"Whats the first half of your post code please?" or
"What town have you travelled from today"?
liked the pizza order in 2010 :T
Ivan, did you watch the pizza order? That's what it is all leading towards and not only for pizza.
I also went to upmystreet, they don't have my postcode in the neighbourhood section, and no my postcode is not new, it is residential, and it is a normal street. Interesting site though.0 -

We were driving upto the local Asda a couple of months ago and hit a traffic queue in a very unusual place. As there are only a couple of ways out of where we live we didn't have much choice but to sit and wait.
Anyway, we get to the front of the queue and are sent down a cordened of part of the road by the police. I am now wondereing what checks they are doing now. We pulled up at the person sitting on a little stool.
The conversation goes something like this:
Person On Stool :Good morning, would you mind answering some questions?
Us: Well do we have a choice having forced down this bit of road by a copper?
P.O.S: Well I don't think you have to answer if you don't want to.
Us: Would have been nice to be given the choice before being sent down here.
P.O.S Well I suppose it would.
Anyway, they wanted to know where we lived, where we were going and why, how many vehicles we have to mention just a few. Needless to say we didn't answer any of the questions which the chap wasn't too happy about.
We could only conclude they were conducting the survey because of the new (daftly named) Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield International Airport.
So you're not even safe just driving to Asda!:D0 -
I get fed up of this. Have to say it's quite fun if you manage to engage someone who asks you a whole raft of questions, THEN asks you for your personal info at the end. They don't seem to see the funny side when they've completed an entire survey, then have no name and address to put to it. :rotfl:
This: http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Eegbg/counterscript.html - is obviously meant to deal with nuisance phone calls (and it's great - they think you are a lunatic), but it could be adapted to deal with annoying people on the street, at your door, etc.

I think your getting it mixed up with Brave new Worldinnovate wrote:As a TESCO card holder I get sent vouchers for discounts of more of the same stuff that I buy regularly. Although I am not really a "vouchers person", I do actually like them, and I now use those vouchers because I get a discount........
It's a little scary when some computer or other knows what and when you eat and how much of which soap you use..........the younger ones amongst us will no doubt remember reading Aldous Huxley's '1984' in the sixties and thinking 'naaaah, never, not where we live"....but it's pretty much true now, isn't it?
Here's the spoof? on ordering a pizza in 2010 ..............Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
