Thanks to one of the challenges on here and a code I have, I paid £3.70 for a cinema ticket, which would normally cost me £8.05.

  • I have lost money after the cheap energy club switch advice;
registered on 13 October and after reviewing options decided to switch provider as an existing deal was finishing on 01 November - it wasn't until 15 january that I received an e-mail from the new provider that the process of the switch was just starting and would take 5-6 weeks! I went onto a standard rate with the original provider from November and now the new provider is estimating £40 a month more than the cheap energy club calculations estimated ( which were more than the original providers previous bill anyway due to energy price rises).

I am now going back to the original provider at a fixed rate lower than the one I left ...but will have paid at least £160 I needn't have done if the switch had occurred when it should have done. There is also some significant discrepancy with the sites calculations if the provider can turn around after signing up and say that the same usage that the Energy club were provided with requires an extra £40 a month. Use with caution!!

:money:Glad I found this thread as I have spent ages on this site being totally confused by all the threads.
BUT I did want to say I have just started,
    So far
1.I have sent a letter to the tax man for a rebate re washing my uniform.
    2. Cancelled the rent of our council garage
    3. Found out that our Gas and Electricity Bill were online. (Thank God DH hasn't dropped dead before I found Martin Lewis's advice on money in relationships and both knowing where everything is)
    4. Found DH lost e-mail account (a bonus for him) nothing to do with money saving
    5. DH has accepted that he is good at maths rubbish with money! Not that I'm scoring points as he is a good man.
    6. Reduced our broadband T.V + telephone package
    On my to do list
Change childcare to a childminder and get child care vouchers
    Switch Gas + Electricity
Change our son's saving account to a better rate
When DH's overdraft is 0 tell him to change to First Direct
Also saved money on coffees and newspapers by not buy them :-0

So Martin Thank you so much you have a loyal follower and you should be on the NHS as it has taken away a lot of stress.

I saved a ton of money, consulting with the users from this website. I went to Vegas and asked you guys about your opinion on some websites for cheap hotel rooms and yeah... pretty much saved up some cash for the casinos (for anyone interested, the website we came up with is http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/). Had a really fun time and I am glad that I had some more money for having fun, not only for investing it in my room.
  • Thanks for all the information on your website! One thing for me to save money is using giftcards and loyalty programs. Don’t know if I’m right here but heard of a website (Giift) that allows to redeem my points and value instantly. It gives me direct access to the best deals and promotional offers. I can manage all my cards and programs in one place.

I love MSE! Here I am on the better side of my mid twenties with just under £30,000 in savings, I'm quite pleased with that! I couldn't have done it without reading the posts and challenges on this website to keep me motivated. Thank you for existing and to everyone who posts on here that has helped me along the way!
