RuthMarianna, I do have sympathy by the way. I didn't agree with all the content of your post - namely that it is always a good time to buy, but found Zammo's comment not exactly helpful.
Try not to take it personally; believe it or not, not all comments are met with abuse...0 -

I'm new on these boards and already sick of the fascist dictators that are ruining all discussions by forcing their views onto other people by verbally abusing and belittling them (or agreeing with this abuse) when they 'dare' make a post that goes against their views. I'm also sick of the 'thanks for making a useful post' tool as its made a mockery of by a few people.
I found it the ideal time to mention this, neverdespairgirl goes around the house forums and thanks even the most meaningless, useless post that says house prices will fall, don't buy now etc etc and completely ignores the useful posts in between that don't support her views (i'm not intending to single NDG out, others may do this but hers are most obvious).
Whats the point of this? Will it make the market crash faster/harder? Or maybe make people think less of the advise thats on 'offer' (read - being pushed on them)?
So, in this thread i wish the OP well and point this out. Then the cavalry rides into town, that were notable by their absence when the 'real' abuse was taking place (maybe its because the abuse supported their view?). They pick me up on it but have no argument against me as i've only spoken fact, then resort to calling me names!
To the OP - hope everything went well for you, enjoy your new place and forget these depressing, glass half empty, doom and gloom forums. Post somewhere positive and enjoy life, you might get hit by a bus tomorrow! (oops, lol, these forums seem to be turning me into a doom and gloom merchant already)
To anyone who may have control over these forums. How many new people do you think won't post here again because of this single thread? How many lurkers won't even post because of threads like these?
Good luck with your board.0 -

I don't, actually. From memory, just in the last day I've thanked Lily and I'veSeenTheLight. Neither agree with me....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Maybe when you've been on here a bit longer, you'll realise that neverdespairgirl is actually extremely fair - you probably notice her 'thanks' on 'crash' posts because she thanks there - and just about everywhere else. In fact one of the nice things about her, is that she is incredibly generous with her thanks to posters across the board (if you'll forgive the pun), whether or not she generally agrees with their views. I admit I'm meaner, and find it harder to thank people who've really effed me on another post, even if I quite agree with this one.
We'd love to hear your comments on the subjects under discussion - ie house prices, mortgages etc, but so far, TT1, I have to say I haven't actually read any comments by you that aren't just attacks on other posters...
Should add, that I expect the vitriol against people posting the house price crash to get worse, as the prices crash further; some of those who've lost thousands of pounds, possibly lost or about to lose their homes etc, will be very upset and desperate to blame anyone other than themselves. That doesn't make it right or acceptable.0 -

I think a lot of people are too scared to post anything with regards to buying a house on here. We (FTB) just get jumped upon and noone seems to answer the original question. 18 months ago I was buying a house and it all fell through, I got a lot of help and advice from this forum (lots from doozergirl - thanks doozergirl), and now I'm buying again I've come back because it was such a great help last time, but it's not the same friendly forum I used to know.0 -
We too are waiting to exchange and complete on a property we love - a move driven by a need to & not a desire to.
We have no reservations whatsoever in purchasing in the current climate. A move which obviously evokes comdemnation from certain quarters on this thread. They have my sympathies, as they must lead very dull lives if all they can offer is negativity and abuse, to what was in essence a quite straight forward question raised on the house buying process.
Besides, can they not see that if prices drop significantly, all these people (renters, savers, doomsters etc.) waiting on the sidelines, will more than probably leap into action & demand will surge, leading to this demand outstripping supply and consequently, prices rising almost immediately.
Additionally, the availability of reasonable mortgage packages in the future are far from assured. Rents are increasing, as landlords cash-in on the increased demand within the rental market.
I hope the doomsters are quick to act but who will know when to act and if they're too late to act, they'll miss the boat and be back at square one again.0 -

Actually although neverdespairgirl and I don't agree on house matters, she is always polite in her posts, unlike others on here.
I have to say I have never noticed her to be a bully or abusive to anyone, she just says her opinion and understands that other people have different opinions.
There are other culprits (I won't name names) that have stopped most people posting questions about actual house buying as all they get in reply is a torrent of abuse. This board has just turned in to a gloating session for those who are waiting for the crash. However I must say neverdespairgirl isn't one of these bullies.
She does thank people a lot but what's wrong with that!?
I first came on here at the end of last year under a different username and actually got some good answers to my questions. Things started to go down hill after that and I changed usernames in the end as I was fed up with all my posts having replies telling me not to buy.0 -
I for one, very much appreciate your thanks, and have not noticed that you are at all unfair in your comments

Thanks to you both!:grouphug:

Thanks for your concern. Best of luck with your house buying.
