Hi Everyone!
Just a quick sorry from me for not updating the list! As you can proberbly tell from my signature, ive been doing some fundraising for cancer research at the moment! So i haven't had chance to come over to the wedding board and have a good old chin wag with the other brides to be!
I suppose it's for a good cause though!
I'll add the ones who haven't been added yet and the ones who need their dates changing, proberbly later this evening or tomorrow!
Sounds like your all doing really well with your planning!I saw some confetti in wilkinsons yesterday and you got a nice little bag for 49p
I think it was pink though, i didn't get much chance to look because OH was hungry! lol
Hope you're all well!
:j
xXxI'm getting married in August 2015:j0 -
Hiya!
Wanted to post on here and say hello although we don't have a date set yet, will be summer 2009. BF proposed just 3 wks ago now on my birthday, so not done much yet, but we started looking for venues and have seen 2 we really like - really cannot choose between them at the moment but need to decide pretty soon!
Unfortunately with 150 on the guest list for the day (more for evening) and getting married in Berkshire, we are going to try our best to be MSE but I really don't think we get much change from £20k (and that's excluding a honeymoon!!!) ... the cheapest venue we have found will be about £13000 with all the food, drink, etc... hoping to get it down more with changes to the food plans. Our parents are contributing, for which we are eternally grateful, and we always knew that we would have a relatively expensive wedding, since family comes to 80+, and we are close to all of them, and we just seem to have not shed many friends since finishing school and uni! Need to get seriously b1tchy I think to cut the list down....:rotfl:
In a way, with the reception costing so much, it seems silly for me to worry about saving a few £ here and there on other things but we are going to try. I'm hoping to get my dress second hand or from the US, mainly so I can get a really nice one without spending more than £500! Mum and I will be doing invites, table decorations, orders of service, etc ourselves and mum thinks one of my aunties may offer to make the cake. Photographer will be my uncle I hope, so thats a big chunk saved! Just really wish we had a nice family friend with a huge garden we could have a marquee in!
Any tips on choosing a venue... anything that swayed it for you?
And tips on not getting totally overexcited and really annoying your OH with constant requests to "look at these centrepieces!", "which colour flowers are best?", "price of rings is only going to go up, should we buy them now?"!!0 -

:hello:
My OH proposed to me the other day and we are planning to get hitched sometime next August :j
Never in my life did I think anyone would want to marry me! I'm so happy!
We have already picked the church we want, I'm not really religeous but OH and his family are, although they dont really go to church, I've done me research though and we have to start attending for at least 6 months.
Other than that I have no idea what to do!
We have drawn up a guest list whcih is as long as me arm, we were going to do the whole, hotel/sit down meal thing but it seems really expensive
So thought about hiring out a hall and doing a buffet or something, as far as caterers go, I wouldnt know how much thy are either, so best get a few numberes to call I guess.
I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed by it all :eek:0 -
Finally!!!Some gals to talk to. My fiance proposed to me in October 2006. I had a 4 month old son (by someone else-loooong story) and I was living in South Africa. When he proposed we all took it for granted that my son and I would move to London to be with him. Shortly after DS first birthday we moved to London (2007 June) and yes, well, a year later Im still waiting for the second ring:( Granted Ive been at home with baby and now Im preparing to return to work. We cope on his salary fine so mine will be savings-our first priority, the wedding. We have a small guestlist (40 or so) and are hoping to be married in sheffield as most of his extended family are there.
So what I need to know is what amount am I looking to save (this will give me an idea of when we actually will get married) and what kind of venues to look out for in the area that will allow me to spend less (thus getting married sooner). I quite frankly would be happy to have a ceremony and then going down to his grandads favorite pub for a sit down dinner (and a bit of a toot or two),but I think he hopes I want a bit more so maybe a tiny bit.
I plan to make my own dress and cake-any ideas?0 -
I've been out and bought everything to make my invites this weekend, looking forward to getting them made!
This time in 54 weeks I will be a Mrs. Can't wait!0 -
Bought my first bits for ours-the fabric and pattern for my dress:). Altogether £50:j I still have to make it and just wrapping them around me to see the effect of the colours made me gush:) I didn't want to put them away-HTB walked in and his eyes lit up-I would think it was bad luck except we've been together so long I don't think it matters anymore-also we have decided on July 2009 (exact date to be decided later), and both our parents think they may be able to make it out from SA after all:j . Have looked at a few venues in Sheffield online and got quotes for 2010 (prefer to overbudget) looks happily manageable. Just need to make a decision and booking.
Could I ask what kind of average budget you ladies are all trying to keep to?0 -
Ooh can I be added to the list please - 20th Feb 2009!
I have booked venue, registrar and photographer, decided on the guest list and that's about it... I will start doing stuff properly around Aug/Sept when we're at the 6 month point.0 -
