  • Church booked woo! Anyone know how long everything takes? We are looking at having a photographer from the ceremony (maybe half an hour before) to the first dance, how long does that normally take?

Depends what type of church service it is... Ours will take about an hour... I guess a full on Roman Catholic would take a bit longer... If you have a ring around photographers they can probably give you an idea of how long they will be around for, they'll have more wedding experience than you or I!

Our photographer will be with me as I get ready and would usually stay till the first dance but she's a very close friend so hopefully she'll stay a bit longer and party!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I'll be marrying the most wonderful man in the world on 19/9/09 :D

Feel very disorganised after reading how much some of you have done already. So far we have:

Fallen in love with and booked the wedding venue
    Booked the reception venue
    Booked the registrar
    Booked the photographer
Organised one car: OH will be driving my Mini - I love it almost as much as I love him so am determined it's going to be at the wedding :D Will probably ask OH's Dad if he'll drive me and the bridesmaids to the venue as he's got a Jag.
Chosen my dress (but want to lose some weight & see how it looks then before I order it.
Picked a colour theme - red, gold and ivory
Bought all the stuff to make the save the date cards and invitations (liking the sound of save the date magnets tho, so might look into getting a few of those)
Chosen the company I'll use to make the cake

My bridesmaids will be 3, 5 and 13 so can't buy dresses too early as I don't know how much they'll grow over the next 15 months.

It all seems very far away at the moment, but I'm sure this time next year I'll be praying for more time to organise things.

  • Hey Bigbird,

You sound very organised! We havn't sorted the photographer or booked cars yet, but have also chosen the red gold and ivory theme.

Just ordered the save the date magnets off of vistaprint, cost 9poundish for 25 including delivery, when you first sign up they give you 50% off that day so have done that, will let you know how they turn out as very cheap!

Thanks Krystaltips, its a c of e ceremony so should be half an hour to an hour apparently, I have no idea how long it takes until 1st dance etc unfortunately, lucky you having a friend that can do that :j

I have a De Vere venue too! Aren't they gorgeous!? Ours charges per person, so most of the wedding is sorted before I even have to start! Love it!

OMG that place is gorgeous, shame I live near Manchester. I was going to get married in Gloucester because my OH is from there (we met on the internet :) ) and all his family are there, but it's just easier to get married up here because of all the looking round venues and caterers, photographers etc. So I've roped my dad into driving down there in a minibus to pick up some family and friends hehe.

Ooo - snap! We're also getting married on 19th September next year. It's obviously a good day for weddings :D

Hi everyone! Can you add me to the list please, we are getting married 23rd May 2009.

I think we are fairly organised (with big thanks to my Mum - she has done most of it and is loving it!), we have booked the venue, cars, cake, band, photographer, save the date cards are on order and I got my dress on Saturday, so excited!

Sugared Honey, my friend got married in April and they got their cake from M&S, it was lovely.

    Happy planning everyone!
