We have a budget of £4k, but have only just realised we havent budgeted for the honeymoon!

Oops! We decided to pay for my folks and my DS godmother to fly over.Seeing them for the first time in two years will be as good as a honeymoon for us:D and DS is getting so big he wont know who they are anymore. We already have that money banked so we've excluded that from the budget. How many guests have you invited?

Bought my first bits for ours-the fabric and pattern for my dress:). Altogether £50:j I still have to make it and just wrapping them around me to see the effect of the colours made me gush:) I didn't want to put them away-HTB walked in and his eyes lit up-I would think it was bad luck except we've been together so long I don't think it matters anymore-also we have decided on July 2009 (exact date to be decided later), and both our parents think they may be able to make it out from SA after all:j . Have looked at a few venues in Sheffield online and got quotes for 2010 (prefer to overbudget) looks happily manageable. Just need to make a decision and booking.
Could I ask what kind of average budget you ladies are all trying to keep to?

We budgeted for £2,000 for the wedding. The honeymoon will be coming out of a special savings fund that we have so we don't count that into the budget. :D
So far, it is all coming to plan. So long as my dress(coming from china) turns up and is ok, then I think we can stay within budget. :T

We've got about 50 for the church then an extra 20 or 30 for the reception, we both have big families and H2B has quite alot of family coming down from Scotland so it's really difficult to try and keep the numbers down for the church!

We have just over 40 for the ceremony and reception and then about 60 for the evening.

We have family coming from down south and down from Scotland so have decided to meet in the middle.

We even have 2 guests driving down from the Isle of Lewis - I dread to think how long that will take them

    :D

We have between 65-70 guests. There is a light buffet in the afternoon and then there will be several "cook your own" bbqs in the evening. We will provide all the food for the bbqs, they just have to cook what they want. :rotfl:

We have saved an absolute fortune by having the reception at home. We spent a little money on doing the garden up and will buy a couple of small marquees from ebay(roughly £30 each) just in case the weather is wet. ;)

All the catering is being done by mums at my sons school. A bit of cash in hand for them. And the decorations are all done by me and my girlies. The only real expense is going to be alcohol (although you can get magnums of fizzy at makros for £2.99 ) and then the bouquets for me and my 7 bridesmaids!(who are by the way buying their own outfits!):rotfl:

I'm currently working on about £6000 - that's doubled the original budget I'd set :( but includes £800 contingency.
Wer'e having about 50 people for the service and a buffet and then around 100 for the evening (we're serving them a few canapes).
The bulk of the money (about £2800) is going on food and drink, but my Mum has agreed to help us with that aspect. The rest is going on the venue - £1300 for the whole house all day, and then very little on everything else!
I'm making pretty much everything that can be made, and spreading the cost by buying a little each month.

That is such a good idea! I was looking at a hotel facility that would cost abot £1000 for the venue and a basic buffet. I wonder if I could find a venue that wouldnt insist they do the catering.

I bought the fabric for my flower girls dress this morning and that was about £10,its the same as my bodice so I have enough thread and I bought a zip and then decided I wanted covered buttons for it.

Also found a pair of cute little trousers in Adams sale for DS for £5.Put that on with a little white tee-shirt and waistcoat and he'll be happy-I cant see myself making the little guy wear a jacket since he spends most of his time nappy only:)

Theres enough left over from my fabric to do a waistcoat for DS, but since he's two I wont make it until closer to the time. Same with flower girl.

That means that so far Ive dressed myself, my flower girl and my DS for about £60:j . This excludes hairpieces, lingerie and shoes, but again Im just going to get white courts and cover them with the leftovers from my bodice.

:T Well done you!! I wish i was a more competant seamstress. I can put curtains and hems up and make banners(whish I will do for the garden) but thats my limit. :rotfl:

My mum was very talented with a sewing machine-she did clothes for all kinds of formals and even made our bras and knickers. Sadly she passed away when I was 19 so this is going to be my way of honouring her for her contribution to who I am today-same with the cake...in honour of mum:)
