<Clearly it couldn't be that bad.

Guys, I think we have all been wasting our time.>

    Sorry I resent that remark.
I do appreciate all the advice but sometimes trying to get anywhere with all this so called consumer law in this country seems to get you nowhere. The problem with the TV really does P*** me off but its easy for people on here to say do this or do that. There just doesn't seem to be any easy way to persue this. If the TV suddenly blew-up then it might not be such a grey area.

At least anyone else considering a new purchase might benefit from this so no you have not wasted all your time.

Fair enough. Help is always at hand if you need it though.

I really need to know what chance I have of getting it resolved.

What have your local trading standards said?

I'm not ignoring good advice but I see it is a grey area. Surely you can see from Dixons response from their e-mail posted earlier that they intend to dig in their heels. I really need to know what chance I have of getting it resolved.

    I'll repeat what superscraper said.

    What did Trading Standards say?

Even if I were to give up and not be bothered with actually ever starting a claims process, I'd still at least use the bluff of it as leverage, final letter including a deadline and a copy of the small claims court claim filled in and ready to post/email if they don't respond by the deadline. I'd certainly at least get some professional advice, giving up before then seems to me like not even getting past stage one.

OK I've called TS Consumer Direct. Actually got very good advice and feel positive about my complaint so I am gonna now persue this. They recommend I send by post and write to Managing Director at Head Office giving them 7 days (the minimum apparently) to reply. Also to get in touch with cc company although they recommend waiting until a reply from Dixons. The say it definately comes under the sale of goods act 1979.

Thank you. At last you have done the right thing here.

We've been trying to tell you from the beginning that you had a fair complaint. I'm really glad you have had this confirmed now (and had good independent advice of how to proceed).

Good luck (you won't need it........, you are covered completely by consumer law in this instance).
