Many many thanks droopsnout, you are a true MSE'er.
Unfortunately last night we crashed after driving for 12 hours, but with the list you have given us we can cope. Yes now DH has had a sleep he will have a look.
Thanks again.

We had a baked bean tin exhaust for three years, we only got rid of it when we had to change the exhaust for other reasons!
My husband has just pointed out that it was actually a tin that had contained olives, but I'm sure the principal is the same. It was held on with jubilee clips.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Hi D-G - hope the rest of your journey is uneventful. Isn't it always Sod's law that something will always happen on holiday - it always did with us - I even broke an arm in Althea, slipping on a polished floor. 3rd day of a 3 week holiday - I was carrying two plates of food at the time and rather than splatter the food all over the walls I went down on my elbow. Boy was I mad! I was in plaster from half way up my hand to just below my armpit.
Anyway, enjoy your trip, I am off on mine on Tuesday.member # 12 of Skaters Club

Just a quick update.
Turned out to be the alternator pulley which had been replaced by our local VW dealer in June 2005, as parts have 2 years guarantee, should be able to claim back when I get home almost 200 €. Nor Auto very helpful. Thank heavens for Sat Nat which found us the dealer.
Many thanks again to Droopsnose for all his efforts.
Have a good holiday MW.

Droopsnose???
Who he?
Um, June 2005 + 2 years = June 2007. Out of guarantee, unless you made a typo.
Have a great holiday. I'm going away myself next week: one week in Lancashire followed by one week in my native, erm, Doncaster!!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Hey-Ho Droopsnout I hope the weather holds out. You should have gone this week. What;s wrong with Doncaster - at least you left it as I did Teesside.member # 12 of Skaters Club

Hi, Merrywidow. Well, it would be nice if the weather is good, but it won't be tragic if it's wet and cold. It's the people we're going to see.
There's nowt much wrong wi' Donnie. We even have a good footie team now!!
When we moved to France, we actually left Lancashire. Mrs DS is a Lankie. Now there's plenty wrong with Lancashire, and even my 22 years working there couldn't put much right. So I was very pleased to get away. So, I'm a Tyke and proud of it.
Of course, you can always tell a Yorkshireman.

Have a good one Droopsnout - I leave on Tuesday so talk again in a few weeks.

Thanks, Merrywidow. And I hope you have a great time, too.
We do things slightly differently. The first week Mrs DS and I will be staying at her father's and we'll see our Lankie family. But then she heads south to see her sister, whilst I go east to stay with my mum and have a weekend at the seaside with some male buddies. The we meet back up at the airport for the flight home to France.
And yes, it would be good to hear from donny-gal. But I guess she's without an internet connection.
The countdown is on here. The pool is covered. The terrace furniture is washed and stored away. The summer kitchen fridge-freezer is about to be turned off. The conservatory is being put into winter mode ...
Odd really, as the sun is still shining brightly all day long, and the temp today was a very pleasant 25 degrees. It's still 23 at 18.30 our time. But it will be mid-October when we get back, and there will be other things to do ...Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Hi Folks
Yes I have arrived in Spain safe and sound thank you. Internet on PAYG expensive dial up until Wednesday. so more from me after the 30th. I can only have a whole month at a time. and not worth it for 5 days. It still plays up though dropping into Local only without telling me and heaven knows why.
Very good journey down here, really quiet roads. Donny yes born and bred. Thought I was a true tyke too until I did the family tree and found I was a mongrel.
Have a great holiday MW, and if we had been home DS you could have come for a cuppa. Sorry about the wrong name, I was trying to get a quick message out from a friends PC and not be rude by spending too much itme on the PC.
Catch you both when you get back.
