It wont go if its ingrained you can use dettox bleach spray which may remove some of it. The problem is caused because you dont wipe excess water on the seal so in time it goes mouldy

Be careful when using it as spray will bleach carpets etc. Also have windows open
  • make a spary bottle of bleach and water and spray n leave for a bit and then wipe off.

i was told by my grandad ex plumber...... this happens because people shut the door on the washing machine after use and its still damp in there, he told me to leave mine with the door slightly open or pushed too never closed and has not ever happened again for 3 years.

    hope this helps.

    Hi kittycat69,

  • thanks every
one, have read the other thread too, and will give some of the ideas a go, maybe need to go back to powder and will try leaving the door open but the machine is a an awkward place to do this!
  • Use tea tree oil.

It has antiseptic properties and smells good.

You need to rub quite hard with a more abrasive type of cloth, like towel or something similar. It really does work.

I read this in the Which Report

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help because I've exhausted my ideas on how to resolve this issue. I have a washer dryer and keep getting mould in the door seal - I've cleaned it with a standard antibacterial surface cleaner and I take washing out promptly when it's finished leave the door open for it to air afterwards but it keeps coming back.

Any suggestions on what to do to get rid of the mould and prevent it from coming back? What's best to clean it with?

    Hi Bazzi

Give it a good wash with hot soapy water, then clean it with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Always leave the door open once the washing is done and let it dry out. I find it best to keep the door slighly open all the time.

    Good luck!

I found doing a hot wash once a week stops this (60 degrees). Towels and bedding are done on the hot wash, then every now and then I do a 90degrees wash with teatowels and bit of bleach. If I do 40 degrees washes all the time eventually I get a build up of black gunky stuff around the seal and the washing will start to smell foisty.
