For those struggling for cheaper dog food, you could try 'working dog food' from a smaller pet shop, these are VAT free, my dogs thrive on it, it's the only one that doesn't upset their stomach!

Well I went to Netto, not as cheap as I remember but some OK offers and I found Ebly!!!!!!, anyway my total is at £139.59 now, which is still lower than my budget (thanks to using a lot of what we have in already) I finish on Sunday and really hoping quite a bit left over to go in the summer hols pot.

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx
One day I might be more organised...........

MrsMc - my thoughts are with you and your family.

Declaring my total for June as £248.46, really chuffed that I'm under Budget again and have looked through freezers and cupboards and made an Inventory.;) Hope you all don't think this is a step too far but have meal planned now until the 3rd week in July with what I have in, apart from F&V and milk. The reason for doing this is to use up what we have in before the kids break up for School Hols as when we are out and about we tend to do picnics etc and then don't want to eat much in the evening. So because I have so much in to use up I have decided to make my Budget for July £150. This might seem like a huge reduction from normal but with so much in to use up I think we can manage.

All my salad leaves are doing well, off to pick some in a minute to make up a salad bowl for tonights dinner. Still waiting for Tomatoes to flower, cucumbers have flowers on but not the courgettes but know it will be worth the waiting. Can't wait to be able to dig up some spuds as can't believe the price of them in the shops now.

Anyway, good luck to everyone still to declare.

PS. Forgot to say a big thanks to Angelnikki for taking us under her wing.

You can freeze the cake or even just freeze the bananas for use later, my son uses them like lollies from the freezer sometimes before I get chance to make cake!

OMG I just did a stock take of my cupboards!! I have got: 9KG pasta, 7KG rice, 15KG flour, 1KG lentils & 1KG cous cous (plus the pasta, rice, etc that's in the kilner jars on the worktop - prob over 4KG) (total 37KG+ ) and 41 tins in my cupboard!!! I know its good to have a well stocked cupboard but maybe I've taken it a bit far? :rotfl: Am I alone in doing this? :o

I'm definitely not gonna buy any more pasta rice or flour until I've used it all up! Or try not to

    Nikki

LOL!!! No - you are not alone! I've been doing my cupboards/ freezers this week - :o and I have
    1kg dried egg noodles
    4kg couscous
    8kg basmati rice
    1/2 kg arborio
    8kg pasta
    19kg of flour!
75 bags of crisps/ cheesy biscuits/ quavers (huh? - how did that happen - must've been bogoffs!)
30 tins of napolina tomatoes (bogof in tesco)
    28 meat sausages
    16 meat free sausages
5 1/2 kg steak/ beef mince - and that's not including the frozen portions of cottage pie & chilli!
    24 pork loin steaks!
    2 pork leg joints
a whole chicken and 10 breasts

and some more which isn't in quite so large quantities!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

What gets me is it's the month END and my house looks like this! And I spent approx £200 less than last month.

I don't actually need shopping other than milk, eggs & f&v (hmm, where have I heard that before?:rotfl: ) but will that stop me hitting the shops? - no :D

I did menu plan last weekend for this week (first time ever) and I shall do the same again this week - I'm trying to make sure we're using up the oddments and things I'd forgotten about in the freezer.

I will be stocking up on some more flour and baking stuff though (have another small suma order thsi month which includes a kg of walnut pieces, cos I seem to be using them in loads of stuff). I don't need any cleaning stuff, but have ordered a 5L bottle of Bio D (eco friendly) loo cleaner to top up the bottles as I run out. really don't think I'll need to buy any other cleaning stuff, but will need to make more laundry gloop within the next week.

Hmmmm...... I always had a store cupboard mentality and hated running out of stuff anyway - but the GC only fuels this :rotfl:

    Hi herewegoagain :-)

there are several places you can bulk buy from. I get some stuff from Suma (you can find it on google) but you'll need a gang of you. The people at suma are very friendly and helpful if you want to speak to them and ask questions. Depending on family sizes you could even do it with 2-3 families.

There are also some discount warehouses where you pay an annual fee and get access to wholesale prices - the nearest to us is about 40 miles away though - but you can search t'internet for those too (or try yell.com)

    Not v helpful, I know :-(

OOh - places like Makro? Never been myself, but sure someone could help you;)

Hi everyone, just up dated my sig as I had to pop into the Co-op to buy coffee today (can't live without it!) - though I was able to use the £1 divi voucher I got in the post so it only cost 99p!

It's our wedding anniversary today (32years!) and I am being very MSE! I am cooking some salmon from the freezer - we are going to have it roasted with herby mash and veg. I am also using up some melon I had in the freezer for a starter and yesterday I bought some reduced raspberries and some creme fraiche for pudding. I won a bottle of cava on the tombola at the village fete a couple of weeks ago so we will be drinking that! We were supposed to be going away for the weekend but have had to cancel because of DH's work, so I am having to stretch the budget further than I thought I would have to. We have £45 to see us to next Thursday. I am going to give it a go! Fingers crossed!

Angelnikki thanks for holding the fort. I won't be declaring till next Thursday so may post on the new thread if it has started by then.

Mrs M - you probably won't have time to read this but you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Better get on with the 'romantic' dinner I suppose. Catch up with you all later.

    Love Moniker
