Someone was asking about cheap lunches, I have one I use now and again.
    2 mushrooms (15p)
    2 tomatoes (25p)
a bit of bacon if you have any but it doesn't matter (If you use Smartprice, about 12p a rasher )
    salt & pepper
    1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
A cup of cooked pasta swirls. (10p max)

Just chop up the mush/tom/.chopped bacon stir fry it in a pan of olive oil for a few minutes, then add a little salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. add a drop of water, then stir it into the cooked pasta.

Put it in a plastic container, it's lovely cold or reheated in a microwave if you have on available.

DeniseF- thats the site I looked at and I chose Sunrise Organics from it because their site listed all the different boxes and their contents which was important for me- I called them and you can then change/ amend your weekly order based on how much you want etc. I have ordered fruit too to save me shopping elsewhere (always a bonus!) I will let you know what its like- the chappie answering the phone was really really helpful though so I am hopeful it will be great.

We've been having a box from Sunrise for over a year now and they're excellent - we've never had one not turn up, and Kiran (The chappie answering the phone! LOL!) is indeed a lovely chap. They do the farmers Market at Great Garnetts farm out at Barnston most months too- that is well worth a visit.

Oh well, just gone over budget for June!!! I am not too upset as I think it is a combination of two things:-
    1. Doing a £60 bulk shop halfway through the month which I had not actually budgeted for but did to stock up some bits before the prices rise (even more!)!
    2. Living on an island does make some things more expensive, there is less choice in supermarkets and generally less whoopsies available too!
Still I am not too upset. TBH I think feeding us for under £200 per month is still an achievement, compared to what we used to spend and also in light of the increasing prices in general!
I think next month I will start with a slightly higher budget and also hope that the bulk buys from this month will do us for a little while. I have also just done two weeks meal plans- basically we have most of the stuff so it will just be milk that we need to buy for the rest of the month, and for next month certainly we won't be buying as much stuff. :D
Also, I am finding thinking of lunches for DS a challenge- anyone any ideas ? He is 1 and loves his carbs lol.
Ok, I hope I won't go much more over the original budget as our June ends on Wed 25th June. Got to say that it is ironice that I go over budget, for the first time in a while, the same month I join the GC lol lol  :o  :D;):o
I am still so chuffed to be making a good attempt and would say to anyone else who has gone over budget not to fret too much and just focus on the fact that you are trying and making small changes. And to those on budget, well done indeed. Hope to join you next month lol :T :T

Have just updated my figures for June and have now spent £171.51. Hopefully I will not need much more before 25th (payday!) perhaps just some bread and milk. Really pleased with that as there is still quite a good stock for next month in the cupboards.

Mind you, with all the price rises I have taken to having a much bigger stock of basics/tins in than I used to and feel happier with that and next month is a 5 week month so I will still be setting the budget a bit higher for July. Will spend some time meal planning for next month and then set a budget which allows a bit extra for 'bargains too good to miss' which can be used in August.

Planning it like this has meant that in spite of the huge jump in prices, my monthly bills have not increased (yet!!):D

My DS(20months) is the same and especially loves anything with mash:rolleyes: . You could just make a bit extra of whatever you have the night before and serve it for him for lunch. So if you make a bit of extra mash for example, you could just mix it with cheese and chopped cherry tomatoes/some tuna and sweetcorn - DS's favourite :D

There's loads of other stuff you could do aswell. You could try:
-Couscous is quite good to do as it only takes 5 minutes to make and you could just mix it with some frozen mixed veg nuked in the microwave and maybe add some small pieces of ham/chopped cooked chicken.
-Small pasta shapes with a tomato sauce - you could make a batch of this and freeze in small portions
    -macaroni cheese - as above
-Scrambled eggs(well cooked) and/or baked beans & toast fingers
-Eggy bread fingers or small sandwiches are good if he's wanting finger foods, and so are HM breadsticks & small vegetable sticks with HM houmous or with philly type cheese to dunk.
-Cheesy biscuits which I posted on here earlier.
-Spanish omelette/tortilla type things can be cut into wedges for a good finger food aswell

My OH always gives DS beans on toast at the weekend  so I try and give him a bigger variety during the week. Hope these ideas help.

Edit to add: there is a MrT leaflet in this week's advertiser with a coupon for a 4pack of Heinz baked beans for 46p, 1litre of chilled orange juice for 35p and lotus thirst pockets kitchen roll x2 for 34p ;)

Oh, I was wondering what I'd done wrong. Lol
Still not familiar with procedures etc on here.

Reading all the posts has reminded me we used to go strawberry picking when we were first married. Might try that this weekend (although the weather girl has just promised rain, typical), DS1 is pestering me to start making smoothies, think they can be used from frozen for this. Might also try strawberry muffins, Raspberries too exp now in Supermarket.
