Hubby has requested poache eggs on toast for dinner..that he will make as "someone" can't poach eggs  and whilst im confessing i can't soft boil the bloomin things either..well I couldn't before my mum got me an eggy boiler :rotfl:(have to say that my eggy boiler does perfect eggs every time and really quickly) I can cook anything else but those 2 -well i can't be diddled to stand there watching or timing them :o .... In my defence though -i am making a nice fresh loaf of bread today for the toast :D

I always cheat when I do poached eggs ;) : I use a cup and place some clingfilm over it, then I push the cling film down inside the cup and break the egg into it. I gather all the corners of the clingfilm together and twist so I've got the egg wrapped up in it. I boil some water in a pan and when its on a rolling boil I lower the eggs in and leave for 4-5 mins. 4 minutes for runnier yolk (OH) and 5 for more solid yolk(me) Dead easy and none of that faff of making a whirlpool or however other people do it:confused: HTH

and for boiling I just bung them in boiling water for 8-10mins

    ooooohhh Angelnikki

I could baffle hubby now by poaching eggs and not telling him how i can do it now :D orrrrr I could forget reading what you said..plead ignorance and get my dinner done for me  decisions decisions :rotfl: :shhh: well I cook everything else and i don't mind as i like cooking but i think i might leave hubby to the chucky eggs :p
As for boiling eggs in a pan..i have been known to burn them (several times) .. I put them on..wander off to do something else and don't remember until i hear them exploding in the pan :rotfl: so now i have one of those little machines where you pierce the egg, plonk it on and use the little measure cup depending on how many and how soft..stick the lid on and away it goes..and buzzes when they are done :T

Egon.. I have a loaf of bread using the 550 flour just about to go in the oven .... its looking good..pinkies crossed... will report back once it is cooked [STRIKE]and i have hacked the end of whilst warm -with butter[/STRIKE] i mean once i have "quality tested it" :p

  • I shall just shuffle in quietly and hang my head in shame as i whisper I've blown my budget!:o and it's not the end of the month for another week yet:eek:
In all fairness this is my first time, a GC virgin as it were, so i'll not be too hard on myself and give it a go next month, but maybe try it weekly as that is how most of my income come is IYSWIM.
Still the freezer and cupboards are full, so shouldn't really need too much else (damage limitation).

Good luck too those of you who are doing so well and thank you all for the tips and hints:beer:

    Hi guy's,
thanks for the update - I went on the site you mentioned Linzmac, and it's really cool, got loads of info on it - checked out 'Sunrise Organics' FelineF, as they looked the best to me too for my area.

I'm not too sure about prices and stuff though - what are your feelings on it? I know I can get cheaper in Lidls/Tesco but quality obviously not as good and I know I will be tempted if I go in there anyway, so am thinking I will give it a try for next month - it will def make us eat more f&v - this seems to be in all boxes so anyone know anything good to do with chard? do I treat it same as spinach?

    Thanks again guys,
    Denise

I thought long and hard about the price DeniseF but then I decided that for the time and effort it would save me (particularly if I am on the bus for the park and ride!), any waste from having to buy 7ibs of tatties etc, and the same thing- that it will save me doing a little bit of fruit and veg shopping and spending a zillion quid on other things!! Plus, its local and I thought it would be nice to support local farmers and businesses rather than the big boys who put up their prices before they slash them!

Also we don't do chard either so they are swapping it for spinach or rocket for us- they will do this if you ask!

I am going to try out different orders and see what we get and whether I feel it is worthwhile- but for me this week it means I won't have to shop again as its freezer/ store cupboard menu aside from this order-- in fact the same for the next few weeks- maybe a little bit of milk.

That was my reasoning anyway!! :o

Ladyroughneck- I went over my first month too- but am proud of the amount we have cut back and am sticking with the same budget again!! :D

I was thinking along the same lines - we don't eat enough veg in our house either so it would be great to use fresh - have loads of frozen bags in the freezer... Off to have another look and place an order I think....:D

I was pleased that our delivery area was Friday as I tend to start my week on a Friday as thats when I get paid at the mo! (I am easily pleased at the moment!:o )

Half an hour til the weekend! Hurrah! _party_

Ohhh, I'll wait till you get back for an update then... My weekend has just started - finish at 1.30pm, but do start at 7.30am  (at the moment, I leave a week today :T :j :T :j ) -

Had a really s****y day today - nasty people coming through reception and to top it off, DS is doing trident this week, last day today and they decided to send him home for throwing a stone - wanted me to pick him up (placing is in middle of knowwhere next to the A13 - a really busy road!), just drop everything and go, so told them no in no uncertain terms and that they would have to speak to the school, who then rung me and told me I had to go too, so after 10 minutes arguing with them that they have responsibility over him during this time and they placed him so they can sort it, I just hung up - had to go for a walk around the outside of the building then as I was SOOO angry. They called back 15 minutes later to say that he was being collected and would be home at 3.30pm - he was waiting for me when I got in at 1.45!

I don't condone what he did, infact I'm not speaking to him at the moment as I am still so angry with him and am waiting for his dad to come in first, but have you ever been sent home for anything like that or did your company give you a warning and deal with it then and there??? is it just me or do they send kids on these things to learn about the big wide world and be treated like adults??? so sending him home and not dealing with the issue is really teaching him then eh! Ohh, better not get started, sorry for rambling on here... I think I'll go take it out on cleaning the bathroom....:o
