  • Hi all
Denisefowler 'this seems to be in all boxes so anyone know anything good to do with chard? do I treat it same as spinach?'

I grow chard and use it just like spinach. The white ribs in the middle take a bit longer to cook and sometimes it is worth ripping the greens off and cooking the ribs a bit first before adding the greens. I use it for potato and chard curry. Its great cooked with a little nutmeg and eaten with eggs and iIalso put it in a potato and broad bean burger that I make. You probably get the idea that I am veggie. If anyone has room in their veg patch it is great to grow as it lasts all winter (in Surrey). Also use the young leaves in salad at this time of year when the lettuce is still small.
    Hope that helps.:j

    Hi all

Have not been on for a while as the computer finally gave up the ghost last week - took it in to the shop & they will try & get some of the data of that is saveable, but I don't hold out too much hope. Had to get a laptop as we need internet access to be able to work (!) & it was the quickest option...now we will have to pay to have the main comp replaced but it will be a business expense hopefully....also Freecycle lawnmower broke so bought one off ebay...an expensive week!

On the GC front I've taken a different approach - I had so many £5 off £30 shopping tokens that I thought I would use all of them to stockpile in order to reduce budget in the coming months. That's the theory anyway! Only problem is losing all my links off the old computer, I can't get back into the spending diary.com & can't find any way to get a password reminder for it - does anyone know how to? To send an email to ask was too complicated for me, they needed all the incoming/outgoing server details so I gave up - bah!

All veggies coming on in the garden/greenhouse but all need attention. The salad leaves/lettuces are great & we have them nearly every meal, can't believe how quickly they grow! Last night had HM chicken tikka, HM mango chutney, HM raita & own grown salad leaves, very nice - only bought naan & would have made that if I had time! Followed by a yummy concoction of chocolate dessert - HM choc cake with a bit of HM jam, mixed berries on the top with a SF jelly then covered with HM confectioners custard set int he fridge....yuummmmy

Morning everyone. Should be a NSD today looking outside at the weather I shan't be going any where.
Orkneystar- If I have pitza dough left over I just put it in a lump in a bag and put straight in the freezer i don't roll it out or cook it. I have never had any problems with it once its been thawed. Hope this helps. Have a good weekend.

Well had 4NSD's in a row - yippee, but hit Lidl this morning for fuit and veg and spent £7.20, have updated signature below, leaving £5.55 left til the 28th. Not bad for the first month of the challenge!! Will need milk later but think that is about it, so may come in just below or just over as OH is coming shopping later with me (always a nightmare). Will do my best!!! Full cupboards and freezer so will be living out of that and did lasagne last night with 4 portions frozen for later this week. Also have chillie in freezer and plenty of pies, fish etc, so won't starve. Off to mop the floor and other Saturday morning chores. Will be back later to update signature.
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!
