    Hi all,
Thanks to everyone about the veg boxes and how to cook chard - very helpful...

Quick question - I brought 3 x sweeds a while back coz they were on special (35p!) but not done anything with them - any ideas before they go west ??) Sorry to ask so many questions, but hope it helps others too...

We had a good day and a bad day yesterday - as prev explained VERY bad morning with DS, School & Trident placement (btw - school picked him up in the end and told him not to worry, these things happen and it wasn't his fault! - after all that!) , then VERY good as hubby got paid £250 extra this week for some unexpected back pay he was owed :j , then QUITE bad again as after all that during the day, I was an emotional wreck, so we had takeaway last night - Pizza from the shop (£15.88  ) and 2 bottles of coke and tub of 'fab' icecream from farmfoods (£3.95) - guess who's making own pizza from now on!!! :o so £19.83 to go on my siggy!_pale_ I don't have to buy much else, so hope I will make it to Friday - just milk, flour and potatoes to get today (and some proper yeast)

I add my takeaways on to my GC total because my way of thinking is, if I have them it saves on my grocery buying, so as it's all food I add it on, but what does everyone else do? am I right doing it this way or do you have treat savings where you are allowed a certain amount each month??? I think I'll carry on adding it as it has stopped us having loads of takeaways (we used to have about 4 a week before this challenge  - please don't judge me! :o ) and this seems to work for me, but it would be interesting to see what you all do.

Anyway, enough rambling - have a great weekend everyone, hugs to those who need them :grouphug:

I have not had a computer for a week and I have really missed coming on this site. Spent £43.41, then £5 off voucher, so £38.41. That makes my total spend so far this month £151.81 and still need to spend £30 tomorrow to get £5 off with a voucher. Still, the vegetables are coming on in the garden so hopefully that will save me some money. Off to the village show this afternoon.
    January spend = £100

Just got to tell you.....*looks around to see mo-one is reading over my shoulder*,,that I've been a little....*looks again*....sneaky:shhh:

I really like the taste of MrT's Local Choice milk [& it's 2p per 2pt cheaper at the mo;) ]& the skimmed is really tasty...and those are words I NEVER thought would come from my virtual mouth:D But that's not THE bit......

*One last look around* I've been watering down the semi-skimmed while they're out, & no-one has noticed:T Probably gained about four pints this week:D

Thing is....I've been using the skimmed & watered-down stuff in their cuppas for a couple of weeks now, but they were chatting last night & declared that they would never "drink that stuff". Luckily I was in the kitchen so I could smile to myself without it being suspicious, & did contemplate telling them....but I'll leave it a few more weeks till I do, just to prove that they can't tell the difference;)

  • Well I am please with myself as I made my first ever Fish pie yesterday.
DD said she didn't want it,I told her I wasn't making anything else and she decided she would have it:eek:
She loved it as did I.

I defrosted two Pollock fillets(£1.66 for around 6 in Asda)

Poached the Pollack in a little milk & Dried parsley(used the milk for the sauce)
    Made a load of mash
    Cooked some carrots
Thickened the milk with some cornflour for the sauce, pinch of pepper.
layered the fish and a tin of mackerel with the carrots and added some frozen peas, covered with some sauce, topped with mash, placed in the oven then took it out around 30 mins later ,covered in grated cheese ,put it back in the oven for around 10 mins ,then served yum yum.

I am a kind of throw it together person so I just judge the amounts and timings.

As I am trying to get fish in my diet at least once a week ,I think fish cakes will be next:D

I hope it doesn't rain today as I intent to BBQ a bag of chicken breasts for currys and sandwiches ect ,then portion it up and freeze it.
