Hi, I had a nsd yesterday but I'm having some serious withdrawls here - I want to go to the supermarket - after a week at a very quiet seaside village I need to see shops!
I just hope I can hold out till Monday so I can make full use of the £5 off a £30 spend at Morry's.
I have to go get petrol in a bit so hopefully it'll calm me down.
I'm going to clear out the cubby hole and sort out the ironing to spend some energy and take my mind off it.
    Enjoy your day everyone.

poppyoscar welcome to the GC. you'll find loads of help and advice on here, and we all keep each other motivated to stick at it, especially when you're having a bad day! so is the cat oscar and you're poppy? if he's anythinhg like my babies (my dogs :D) he'll probably eat better than you!!

applemella thanks for posting the mince and bean pie,it sounds yummy. i've copied and pasted it now into my recipe folder, so gonna have a go at that one night

thebees thanks for the recipe for the all-in-one-mince. it sounds dead easy and quick to do. think i'll give it a go to put in Mrs Mc's tortillas if i can ever master them (they always come out dead sticky for me but i won't be beaten!!) or it'd be nice with HM crusty bread....nomnomnom!! :D

carolt2 i watched the Tonight prog last night about food wastage, but there's no way i'd have eaten the mouldy bread, or the mince or chicken that was a week out of date  don't people think to freeze meat as soon as they buy it, then they wouldn't have to chuck it out? my mum used to work in tesco, and she said she saw tons of food being thrown away every evening, and when she asked if it couldn't be given to the homeless or women's refuge shelter, she was told that if someone became ill from eating it, they might hold the supermarket responsible. i'm sure i read somewhere that it was illegal to go thru supermarkets bins in the first place, not that i'd be tempted to do that...i DO have some standards!! would have made more sense for Iceland to have reduced all that stuff rather than throw it away, and let us all have some whoopsies!!

well, i'm off to try and catch up on the rest of the posts, hope you're all having a good week-end xx

poppyoscar was my other cat who is now in !!!!!-cat heaven (you know, feather cushions, log fires even on warm days, tinned salmon and full cream milk) - thought she was a boy (oscar), but she wasn't so renamed her poppy, but the oscar stuck too! current cat is leo.

thanks for the warm welcome. this will be great motivation!

    PO xx

edit - oh! you're not allowed to use the 'p' word before cat, when describing your moggy!!!

    Good afternoon everyone,

I have been to morrisons and spent £4 odd topping up for this week coming.just needed milk and cauliflower and could not resist egg custard for tonight's pudding :) My DD is sick but im still offering her food but she is not eating much and i dont blame her, but if i dont offer her it i feel so guilty..i know its silly :(

I will update exact spends later, i just hope i ca get to end of month on £50 as i have been doing this challenge for around 4-5 months and never gone over my target yet! Think £50 pretty good for me and 2 small ones.. but thats cause my mum paid for my shopping at beginning of month.

Hope everyone is okay and sending hugs to anyone who needs them today

    Afternoon,

Have had a freezer drama but managed to avert a crisis.

Had a few floppy celery stalks and leaves to use up and a chicken breast and scraps kids didn't want for lunch along with carrot and pepper sticks. So I got what I thought was stock from freezer and bunged it in big pot....Smelt like and was coconut milk.

    Thai ish Accidental Soup:T

    1 chicken breast pre cooked
    1/2 tin coconut milk
1 chicken stock cube made up in 1 pint hot water
    2 large onions sauted
Celery, carrots as many as you have
    Dash of ginger
    Dash of chili paste
Salt and Pepper - plenty of both

Cooked onion first, added stock and coconut milk, added veg after 5 mins, add rest of ingredients after 10mins simmer.

Take some shredded chicken out and blitz rest then mix, chill and freeze.

ladyroughneck - where did you get the baguette tins from????? Very useful.

Have rehashed next weeks menus again including all missed meals from this week to stretch finances further.

Using lolly moulds daily with squash or fresh fruit juice - very economical and healthy too.:money:

Have factored in a takeaway for the 26th when OH eventually gets home-Yippee someone to take out the bins, iron and mop till his hearts content.....
