    mornin all

that all-in-one-mince sounds lovely. might give that a go next week...do you think it would work putting it in Mrs Mc's tortilla wraps, or would it be too sloppy?

hoping i only need to spend a bit today.i've got a coupon for £2.40 i want to use up, so i was gonna get my bag of dog biscuits with it at Mr T's, and i MUST get some cocoa! DS15 is having withdrawal symptoms he said from not having choc chip muffins

well, the BM's on for buns for lunch, washing's on the line with another load in the machine, so i suppose i'd better get dressed and get the hoovering/housework done. i always like to do all my jobs as early in the day as i can, then i can walk my dogs and if i'm lucky, have an hour to myself x-stitching...Mrs Mc all your talk of it has motivated me to dig out all my kits from the loft and start up again, so a big thank you to you :T i'd forgotten how relaxing it was!

hope everyone else has a great week-end xx

Hey Gang....hope you're full of the joys & ready to face the world on this glorious summer's day:cool: I'm a whizz @ sarcasm--just wish it would stretch into other bits of my Life:p

Things are looking pretty dire just now--poorly Pup was worse than first thought & had an out of hours appt last night at eighty-odd quid & has to go back again this morning but should only be around the £60 mark:undecided She did say that it was usual practise to admit them & put in a drip, but Pup was "too lively" for that:smiley: so some consolation there.....for Pup---not the wallet--I'm not THAT mercenary :o

I'm trying to fathom out whether to include this in the GC, so I'll not update my total till I've had chance to see where else it can come from...

Have you tried all in one mince? Basically make up a batch of savoury mince as if you were making shepherds pie (or make a double batch and freeze ahead). Then cook up some rice and add this to the mince along with chopped peppers, chopped bacon, onion, bit of paprika, some herbs etc. Any leftover veg etc. Don't forget a handful of oats to pad it out! Stir it all up.
Very tasty and filling. (Found this in a recipe leaflet at the butchers)

    Hope this helps.

I do this with left over rice and left over mince (from separate meals, so DH doesn't think he is getting the same thing twice), derived from an old oxo recipe (1970's)

Sometimes start it from scratch when I have lamb mince. Then I start with ground coriander, cumin, cardamom and turmeric added to the onions when frying. Fresh coriander to garnish when I have any. I call it Morroccan lamb, I think I stole the basic idea some time ago, but not as long ago as the other one!

I have not spent anything from the grocery budget since last Saturday. DH bought some chips to go with burgers the other night, after we had taken the kids to a meeting and had a petrol hunt, our local had none (regular occurrence) and my car was running on memory!

Might 'have' to go to Costco today as they have sent some MOCs. I need washing powder and will be passing there anyway. Will check on mysupermarket before I go to check it is worth it.

I am so envious of those of you growing your own veg. Always intended to have a veg area in the garden like FIL and SIL always did. Unfortunately the gene missed DH, even though we originally bought a greenhouse when we married. Had one batch of tomatoes before we moved.

Might try to [STRIKE]get him [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]get the teenagers[/STRIKE] do some in pots myself next year though.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Zzzzz

    Good morning all.
I managed to watch the Trevor MC programme last night on ITV. Very interesting, cant really imagine myself rummaging through bins.
It does seem a big waste of food for supermarkets to be throwing away. Could they not give it to a homeless shelter if they decide not to sell it reduced???

Just popped in to update signature.
Went to Mr T this morning and spent a total of £25.90.

Stocked up well on fresh fruit, vegetables, salad stuff. Think I have bought enough to last til the end of next week.
My fridge is full and the freezer is packed.
Managed to get somr frozen summer fruits £1 per tub, thought this would be good for smoothies or even summer pudding that OH keeps on mentioning.
Only got just over £44 to last til the end of the month:eek: .

Made a meatball goulash concoction last night and OH enjoyed it. The rest of the meatball concoction is in the freezer and some is in the fridge to be given to my mum.

Having either HM chicken curry or chicken salad for tea. See how we feel at teatime.;)

    Morning all

Thanks JudeEllie for the beef and bean pie recipe. Will be adding that to the menu list for definite.

Chocolateteddy & Mandy-moo re the all in one mince - Yes I think it would be fine to go inside tortilla wraps as long as you cook it long enough so the rice is not sloppy. And yes, I use the same savoury mince as if I was going to make a shepherds pie which contains carrots, onions, bay leaf, tin of chopped tomatoes, mixed herbs, and a pint of beef stock. Not forgetting some oats.

To make All in One mince you will need 500g of savoury mince (see above)
    4 rashers of bacon
2 sweet peppers deseeded and chopped
    Can of chopped tomatoes
    150ml beef stock
    2 tspoons of paprika
200-300g cooked rice any variety ( I do about 2 mugfuls of dry rice for family of 4)

Cook bacon, add peppers and cook 3-4 mins.
Add the savoury mince, chopped tomatoes, stock and paprika
Bring to boil then reduce heat to simmer 3-4 minutes
Add the cooked rice and cook 3-4 more minutes until heated through.
Mix it all up and serve.

As you can see there are quite a few vegetables in this so a good way of getting them into reluctant vegetable eaters!:D

    Have a good day everyone.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Hi everybody :hello:

    Can I join this challenge?

I know June is half over, but I'm kind of doing it anyway!

My target for the month is a low one due to car insurance that had gone up because i made a claim:rolleyes:

So, I'm aiming at £50 (household only consists of me plus cat!) and so far I have managed to only spend £9.90! The freezer and cupboards are now looking pretty empty though, so I know this week will be at least £20!

    PO xx

Also any suggestions for bananas - have about 20 of them that need something doing with them. .. Might make some banana and strawberry smoothies and freeze them. Any different ideas would be appriciated. Jude xx
Peel the leftover bananas and freeze them to use later in smoothies or stirred into yoghourt, banana bread
