This is the first time I've joined the grocery challenge and I'm amazed at how it's made me think about what I've bought. I've included eating out in my total but not petrol, my new shoes or birthday presents.
So far I've spent £129.83 (I estimated £350 for the month)
I found packets of 24 Weetabix in Savers for £1.19 so I grabbed three packets of them (I eat two for breakfast every morning) so that's over a month's supply.
I love all the hints and recipes on here and have made a yogurt cake and everybody loved it. I want to try making a potato burger pie next - it'll probably be far too much for one meal for us so I'll use some and freeze the rest.
Am I supposed to be having so much fun while watching the budget? :rotfl:0 -
Had 2 NSD but went down town and spent the grand total of 56p on a hot sausage roll. I didn't really need it but I promissed DD. Well it was a bribe DD aged 2 locked her self in the house whilest i was at the car I thought I had shut the stair gate. Spent 20 mins trying to get her to turn the key in the end someone I know broke in and unlocked the door.
I baked another batch of hobnobs with coconut they are very yummm I have eatern 6 already:eek: . Also done hm rolls.
Don't really need any shopping till next week.GC July £250/0 -

I made the chorizo and butterbean stew from it. It may offer some interest to you. (I will post this on the live on £4000 challenge too as I visit both of these threads) www.beyondbakedbeans.com
That's great Boomdocker, thanks for that :T0 -
Went out with the dogs tonight and OH announced he wanted weetabix for the morning. I wanted to get potatoes to save me stopping for them after work. We rummaged in our pockets and came up with enough to buy a bag of potatoes, 12 Weetabix (gggrrrrrrr he won't go for store brand and actually can tell the difference - I've tried) and a reduced loaf of bread. I really was counting out pennies and had to put back a reduced pack of that Doktor somebody bagels which we 26p!! But it was a real lesson that it is hard to stand there and work out just what you can buy and what has to go back. I feel very lucky tonight that this happened to us because we had come out without wallets and not because we only had the money for one thing or the other.

Hi everyone, could some one please tell me where to get the £5.00 voucher from off Mr M. I have looked and can't seem to find it.
Well done to all of you, you are really inspirational, looking forward to starting my first challenge in July.WW start date 31/8/2011 :j
weight lost so far:- 32lbs :T0 -
I had a lovely tea tonight, trying to use up what I've got in the fridge. I needed to use up cherry tomatoes and goats cheese, so I made a risotto and chucked in some frozen peas and mint from the garden as well (I so admire you gardners. I can only cope with growing herbs at the moment
)
I'm off to Liverpool for the weekend, so will make a packed lunch for the train and make up my flask, v mseOther than that, BF will take care of the food for this weekend.
Think I will crack on with my menu plan for next week :rolleyes:0 -

Hi there, These vouchers were actually advertised/printed in the sun newspaper a couple of weeks ago.'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0 -
Spent more than I hoped to today, was only planning on going to the PYO fruit farm to get some strawberries, spent £3.85 there, also got a big bag of crisps
- £1.69, and OH got the kids some sweets - £1.40.
Updated my sig.
Tea today was a mixed bag - ds1 had the hm pizza from yesterday, ds2 had beans (in fridge, needed using up) on toast, ds3 had scrambled egg, I had ds2's beef goulash and mash that he didn't want a couple of days ago and OH had a bowl of cereal - well he couldn't be bothered to get a hm ready meal out of the freezer!!
My parents are recently back from Portugal and dad is complaining about the shop bought bread here, not heavy and filling like he's used to over there, so I said that if they pay me for it I'll make them bread! Just need to cost it up now.
