How smug are you feeling right now?:p
I'm dead jealous - our Morrisons never seem to knock more than 30p off anything unless its utterly manky
Hehehe i'm chuffed to bits, i did the celebratory lap round the kitchen while i was putting it all away :rotfl: , it's the first time ive ever had such a profitable find.

Hi all
Just updated my signature Spending a bit up again this week and didn't include OH beer in total as it is on offer so bulk buying Tesco 3 cases of 18 cans for £20 save a fortune on pub prices. Once morrisons spend £30 save £5 have finished will settle back into normality may not need to shop in july except for fruit and veg cupboards and freezer are bursting. Although Asda sent me vouchers for 3 free deliverys if I spend over £50 -no chance of that I am struggling to find stuff to buy.
I know I said ages ago I was going to plant lettuces but not got around to it. Is it too late to sow them roughly how long do they take to become pickable? Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Hi all - know I've been a bit quiet recently but I just haven't turned the computer on at all. Been coming home from work and zonking out on the sofa til I crawl into bed. Haven't got the last receipt on me at the moment (think it was about £26). Not sure what it got spent on apart from cornflakes. Got a thing for them at the moment!
Got a letter from Barclaycard the other day saying that they're sending me £160 refund for the CC charges that I claimed. Got about £70 each from the other two I tried but have now sent them to the financial ombudsman.
On a slightly worse note, had £70 sponsor money that I had collected stolen from my desk drawer at work yesterday which wasn't fun. Being a complete hormonal emotional wreck at the mo I just burst into tears which was rather embarrassing! Felt like an idiot as I shouldn't have left it in my drawer. Just makes me angry that someone would do that.
Anyway - sorry to go off topic but thought I'd let you know that I'm still about but trying to get used to this pregnancy thing is tough! Will update signature when I find the receipt. Hope everyone else is wellJonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

Lettuces take 8 - 15 days to germinate so you could plant a small tray now and then again every 2 weeks for a steady supply.I use meat trays to start mine off in.MRSM is the gardening expert extrodinaire on this forum, her potio is a thing of beauty.
I think if you were to give it a try be adventureous and plant a few staple summer items - I've got toms, cucumber, lettuces, garlic and courgettes all were 29c for a packet so what have you got to lose.I had never planted anything until 3 weeks ago and it is so exciting,,,,,.....,,,,.....
Potatoes are also discussed alot on here.
Hope that helps,Lidi often do bargain seeds cheap as chips.

Nearly had a NSD today. Went to the 20/20 cricket tonight with ds2 and took packed tea for us. Pre-booked the tickets to find that because ds2 was playing in a kids warm up match before he got in free, so my mum dropped ds1 at the ground and he joined us - wasn't going to waste the ticket. Turns out he'd had no tea and I hadn't packed anything he liked, so he ended up having chips and an ice-cream -£3.70
. Would have been a lot more but only took £4.20 out in cash!

Hi all,
Feeling pleased with myself as I've had a NSD today :T The first one since last Thursday. I'm using the spending diary to keep track of *extra* spends - ie. not bills/direct debits etc, and am finding it a real eye opener. I'm planning another no spend day either today or tomorrow, but will need to get some meat. It depends which day I can get a cheap cooked chicken from Sommerfield on mark down for the curry on Friday night
I've got next weeks meals nearly all planned, so will go and sort that out probably on a Sunday shop. Should be nice and cheap as I only need F&V, a bit of wine  , some nappies and a couple of extras like beans for the enchiladas. Last week may be a little more, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'm going to be on target.

I'm with annelouise on this one - and this is my first ever time of growing anything at all! Little and often is definitely the way to go with salad stuff.
I planted a trough with 'mixed salad leaves' (they don't get a heart on them) about 6 weeks ago - but found that I shouldn't have done that many as there are only two of us here. I just go out with a small bowl and pick what is needed at the time. Haven't bought a lettuce for weeks now! AND they are so tasty for a change.
Two and a half weeks ago I planted half a trough and they are coming along nicely. At the weekend, I'll plant the other half of that trough, by then I'll be starting to pick that second lot. I just have to keep remembering to water them, as they dry out very quickly especially when it's been very warm. I've also got radishes in a trough - although they are not very big, they are pickable right now. Be even better in a couple of weeks time.
When watering them, make sure that you don't do it during very strong sunshine. If it's going to be a really hot day, then water early in the morning before the sun hits the plants and then again in the evening - making sure to direct the water onto the stems/soil and not onto the actual leaves themselves or they will scorch.0 -
Morning Guys,
Today is going to a no spend day (or at least one is planned) on the lettuce front mine appear to be taking forever! everything else seems to be coming along nicely tho so cant grumble. There are loads of potatoes, beans, peas, carrotts, radishes, rocket, strawberries, corn on the cob (should be interesting) tomato plants and other stuff. But it is very exciting see it all grow!!!!!! (how sad am I?)
Welcome to all the newbies, the more the merrier. You will find this very addictive!!!! lol and I am pleased to say money saving.JanGC £250/£82 far:weight loss 1lb cc250/£86/cm40/£9.50 :A0 -

looks like another miserable day outside here. its really really windy, and it looks like its gonna chuck it down any minute
should be able to manage an NSD today, as i don't NEED anything .....can't see me going out in this weather anyway even if i did
am just about to have another bash at making yogurt, as the last few attempts have been really runny, and i've also got to get the BM on to make some rolls
hope everyone has a good day, and (((hugs))) to those that need one xx0
