June 2008 Grocery Challenge

Hello to all!
I'd like to join in with this this month if it's okay. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how much I spend each month, so from June 1st I've been writing down everything I've spent. I have just a couple of small questions; is it just food and drink, or do I also include toiletries, cleaning products etc? And what about booze? Not an essential, I know, but something that does
Think everybody does there own thing. I keep my alcohol budget seperate. I dont really drink but hubby usually has quite a few beers over weekend. I am aiming for 200 a month for all foods, cleaning, takeaway etc. And a seperate 40-50 a month for hubbys beers. The reason I am starting to do this challenge is because I squander so much money. I do have quite a bit of cash to play with each month but waste it on takeways, expensive m&s meals, magazines etc. I know a lot of people on here are doing it as are needing to watch every penny to be able to survive so they maybe count in alcohol etc. I would think it just depends on your own personal income and reasons why you are doing budget. I have estimated that I waste at least 500-600 a month on nothing that I could have in my bank earning a bit of interest or use to treat myself instead of wasting it on nothing.
Good luck with your budget whatever you deciede.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0 -

Afternoon everyone! Not a very nice one here so we have stayed in all afternoon, but still not a NSD as bought salmon this morning when we were out (£3.61), it was a planned purchase, though!
Will need to get a few bits tomorrow too and may need to dip into GB a bit tonight coz I'm going out for a curry with a friend, but should be ok as I really don't need anything major for the rest of the month (and managed to save a meal last night coz the risotto I made on Monday was enough to do us last night too!:j )so am still feeling optimistic!
Keep up the good work everyone!

Phew busy afternoon!
Just made 10 portions of pasta bolgnaise - I make these up and freeze so hubby can take to work, plus another portion of only bolognaise which will do a meal for 2, 3 portions of mash, 2 portions of part boild spud for roasties, a cottage pie and 3 potato pies - one for tea tonight which should do leftovers for lunch, another the same size and an individual one.
Oh and a NSD!!!!0 -

Hi All
Had a go at twink's hobnobs this evening and they haven't come out quite as expectedFirst lot (cooked on a silicone sheet) were OK. However the second (cooked on a greased baking tray) are all falling to bits and the third lot (also on a greased baking tray) are welded to the tray - OH is out in the garden trying to chip them off they tray as I type this!! They aren't burnt - all 3 lots looked fine when they came out of the oven - a nice golden colour.
Can anyone give me an idea of where I went wrong? You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
no idea what you have done wrong BigBird you always have to melt the butter very gently, too hot and the mix will be dry, is your oven hotter in the top? must say i am puzzled0
