Hi I havent been on for a few days, this thread moves very fast, I'm going to have to spend a day just catching up on what I've missed.
Went to Mr M yesterday for some essentials to keep us going including 8 cans of Heinz beans for £3, I only buy them when they are on offer, and loads of milk half of them are in the freezer. I spent £38.48, normally would have been £70 odd.
We had homemade Shepperds Pie out of the freezer for Dinner last night (not quite the weather for it but it was lovely all the same) and BBq whoopsied meat out the freezer tonight.
I am going to make the homemade pizza again as it was very cheap and delicious.
So all in all I am on track for a £200 spend on groceries this month wahhoo!

I don't add sugar and butter to the condensed milk, i find its sweet enough. I just whack the tin into boiling water, and simmer for a couple of hours, hey-presto caramel (leave to cool in the tin, do not open till cooled)........just an alternative suggestion, i hope nobody minds :D .

Do you put holes in the top first to stop explosions or is it OK as it is?  Thought I'd better check after an accident I had with a tin once - took weeks to get it all off the ceiling, walls, cabinets and me!

Well I did it, 2nd NSD for me:T :T :T . Chuffed with myself( how sad ?:D ), but I didn`t do the shephardless pie. Instead made a quiche for dinner tonight for OH and me, the rest can be used for his packed lunch and the kiddies had fish cakes that were hidding at the back of the freezer and pasta. So hoping that will last them for the next half hour:rolleyes: (they`re constant dustbins, never seem to stay full for long). Will try my original plan tomorrow and see if I can make it 3 NSD. Heres hoping:rolleyes:

No, don't put holes in it, immerse the whole tin in boiling water, and cover the simmering pan, so it does'nt boil dry. Also dont open it until its cooled.

I don't think he quite understood the chat about budgeting last night...

i think its beans on toast for the rest of the month, that should bring my spend right under budget on the challenge anywho!!!

Well have spent over half my budget but still pleased as I have a freezer full of whoopsied meat at about third price and 6 week supply of kitten food for my 2 kittys at half price. Only thing need to get for rest month is fruit, veg, bread etc. Also going to have my first attempt tomorrow at making soup ( left over chicken carcus ) and biscuits.
