Hi bigBird and welcome on board
Twas me....as long as they are in pots, it shouldn't matter where you put them... but if in doubt you cn cover them with a bit of fleece or netting
Growing spring onions/onions/garlic in tubs near by helps to disguise the smell of carrots so they don't find themand watering them in an evening and pulling any you want then also keeps the smell down. Make sure you throw and tops etc away.... away from the carrots
hope that helps
oopps and no you aren't to late to set them..i set a few every week so you get a constant supply -will be doing it for months yet...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thanks Mrs M
I have my collapsible crate and cardboard box, just need compost and seeds and then I am on my way to having my very own potio! - already have some runner beans and tomato seedlings in the conservatory so the potio should be pretty well stocked when I get everything outside. I am so excited about growing my own food!!!!

Hi Guys!!
Trying to use up what we have in the fridge so it doesnt go off and get wasted.
OH & I have just had left over salad (lettuce, cucumber, red pepper & beetroot) with ham, grated cheddar and a tin of new pots that I found lurking in the cupboard (have another 4 of them) but they were delish. Also the last of the coleslaw and pot salad.
OH bought a reduced HUGE pizza the other day which he froze so will have that for dinner tonight with some oven chips and the remains of the salad.
We have about 12 FR large eggs left, 3 packets of cheddar, 1.5 packets of ham, yogurts and some other bits in that shoudl last a while.

Am feeling quite pleased about the fact that I have a Boots card now that I managed to get all the stuff I needed in there at lunchtime with my points!! :j :j
This is doubly spectacular after reviewing my finances to discover i am well and truly skint until I get paid next weekSo many many NSD for me for a while- ah well we have enough food (maybe not milk) and I have enough books and wool to entertain me
At this point I say thank goodness for weekly pay!!
Hurrah its nearly home time!June Budget= £151.41/£150:cool:10 NSDs (with teenagers !!)= 8Reduced my overdraft a little today- slow but sure!:A0 -
Had a successful trip to Lakeland this lunchtime. Their lamofoil pouches were reduced to £2.99 from £5.29 for a pack of 10 so picked up 2 packs. I wouldn't normally buy them but they can be reused if you're careful and are good for soups and sauces.
They also had packs of 100 parchment squares reduced to £1.99 from £5.50 so picked up the last 2 packs of them as well. No more hunting for scissors to cut greaseproof/parchement paper for me for a while:p
These are reduced because the lines are being discontinued so if you're interested and there's a LL near you, you could be lucky;)
I also got a pack of butterfly embellisments for card making reduced to 1.99 from 3.99 - that's all the girlies' cards sorted for the year now (okay I didn't NEED them given the stash of bits and bobs I've got but they were sooooo pretty:rolleyes:)
Also got what I went for  - a pack of biscuit carriers so my home made goodies are not reduced to crumbs by the time it comes round to afternoon tea!
Plus an extra gold star to me for resisting the bags of liquorice:A
Spent 13.84 in total but can't decide if it should come from grocery budget or not - what do people on here normally do re freezer bags and storage things?26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Hiya everyone - just wanted to sign on quickly to let you know that I popped into Iceland this morning and 4 pints of Milk on offer at 2 for £2.:D
Also phoned my nearest large Tesco and asked Customer Services if they are taking the Morrisons spend £30 get £5 off vouchers from the Sun and they said they are:T so shall be going there for the next 3 weeks as I just didn't like Morrisons when I was in there earlier this week, stuff seemed to be a lot more expensive than Asda and Tesco, also if I can use these Vouchers in Tesco and get Clubcard points at the same time then even better.:D
Just finished lunch and now off to water Hanging Baskets etc then want to make the base for a Banoffi Pie as have my Sister, BIL and their 3 kids over tomorrow for Dinner. Another post. That'll be 3 today......
Have just come back from picking ds4 up from Nursery to find our new commercial centre was being inaugurated by the mayor and free drinks and 20ft paella...
So we had ffree food ,drinks and managed to stash / steal / secrete / acquire 2 bottles of vino tinto de verano (Spanish Summer Wine) and 3 cans of schweppes tonic with red berries .
Thought I might make a fruit punch next time we have friends over.So all in all a great find.
Have a massive potato salad cooling on the side for friends 40th Luau Party tomorrow and have gone halves on a selection of speciality cheese, pickles and crackers.
Lettuces are looking decidedly sad and wilting.Have moved into a cooler area and will hold off watering any more today.I don't think they are tall enough to !!!!! out yet????MrsM advice much appreciated???
Waiting on my wash to finish and then the bedding to go in and collect kids at 4.30pm for a late night as it's Friday and we have lots of children visiting our complex so it's hard to get kids to bed on time in the week when they are all in the pool laughing and carrying on...
Have prepared popcorn and unearthed 3/4 bottle fanta lookelike from the utility.Well they are having super healthy jackets and strawbs for tea.

Hi
Just updating my sig, did not spend much today, got some milk in local shop and marg in Lidl. Also went to get DS feet measured and he does not need new shoes yet (:D) so thats good. Popped into Woolies and they are doing the £1 items promotion again, and there is some quite good bargains. I got a 2 x 2L bottle or robinsons diluting juice, one in orange and one in blackcurrant variety for £1 each and also some crisps. Well chuffed with the juice, I love diluting juice and as I have it very weak then those will last ages and ages! I take it weak not to save money but cos I prefer it that way lol Also got some bogoff toilet roll from COOP, not the cheapest but Nouvelle and I like it. As I hoped this time I also got a £3 off £20 shop valid til next week and so can use that on my COOP shop next week (had one planned and was hoping for a voucher!).
This thread surely moves!

That makes a crusty loaf.... if you want it softer you can use part water and part milk .. and if you want it to keep better you can add a knob of butter/oil (i always found that oil makes a heavier loaf)-but we never bother as any that makes it past day 1 gets sliced and frozen:D
Just to say I add a knob of butter too MRSMCAWBER! Never thought to replace it with oil though. And, after its risen (but before I bung it in the oven) I stick the ball of dough in the bowl that held the butter so that it gets a little (very little!) sheen all over - I find this makes the crust wickedly tasty and chewy!
Another NSE day for me again. Away to order shop from MrT. Good shopping everyone!0
