  • Thanks very much ISOM, i didn't expect to see you back on.Have been worried about you.
Re SW stuff, i sometimes find that the lower cal stuff and higher cal stuff, are not always much different in syn value. But the ice cream wouldn't be a problem for me as i don't like it at all, and will only have one about once a year if that!
I to would have enough food to feed an army, if the army didn't already reside in this house..AKA the teenagers, and hubby...
I too am glad i didn't sell the books. He asked me if i had been in touch with the shop, and i said why? Are you selling your grandfather clock? Or the war medals? shut him right up that did!

hey bob just dopping by to say hello - haven't managed to read back over the past week in the life but wanted to say glad the funeral went well - they are always sad but good when it can be like that. Sounds like your neighbour was a lovely lady with the legacy of a terrific family. :)

Hey there Bob - glad to hear that you're basically positive. Funerals are so strange, aren't they - they actually bring us back to people we've known and loved, so there's a lot of joy in with the grief too.

The dfwing sounds like its going great - I'm looking at doing a grocery challenge for the first time ever, tho not actually costing the meals. How do you do that, anyway????

Thanks, she was a character who was a bit like the guard dog of the cul de sac, and had a heart of gold...........if that makes sense.:o I will miss her greatly, as the past couple of years she has been so poorly that itwas a blessing in a way. She hung on long enough to see her great grandaughter who is 6 weeks old, and must have known as she rung around everyone telling them how much she loved them:o

Her family are terrific, it was good to catch up , and very kind of them to invite us to the wake afterwards.

Hi KC..thanks for your comments.............so true.

Grocery wise, i cost out by quantity and price. so for example a large sack of 57kg potatoes, is £7.59 so 10kg would be about 76p (rounded) not that you would use all of that in a meal...but if you portion out how many meals you would have you get the costings for each meal. I then times those by four.

Same with everything else, i just cost out how much a meal would cost some are rough estimates, because i buy when on offer and some things were v.cheap or whoopsies, as they then bring the cost right down. Most meals i make from scratch as i can't remember the last time i bought a ready meal, well couldn't afford to with my family. I also make a menu plan for the week based around my ingredients and then stock up as necessary

And every now and then we eat out as well. But it is rare, and i can honestly say i prefer my own or friends food to basic pub grub.If you want any help in that direction holler............but i reckon you will be fine.:D
