Ok lets do a rough check
4Kw for 2 washes? If wash at low temp
    3kw for tumble dryer
    1kw for hoover.

    Where does the rest go
    Possible 2 kw shower
What other items do you use
    Fridge 2 kw freezer 3kw?

    Elec Dec 07 reading 50695 - Jan 08 reading 57461.

Please Please tell me that is Dec 06

    Nope, Dec 07.

Well if you have used 6,766kWh in one month, you have a serious problem;)

Yes I have those too. Small ones (not a big kitchen). I cook electric, and as I make proper meals from scratch, that probably uses alot. I also do have a TV - and a lap top, but guess that is obvious. I microwave my breakfast for 2 mins in the morning. A hair dryer that I use every other morning, for about one minute may be two at a stretch. The kettle goes on twice in the morning and once in the evening. We have been using energy saving bulbs for years and never have main lights on.

I use throw away razors to shave my legs and operate a 'manual' toothbrush...... :D:D:D:D

John, do you wish you hadn't asked?? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It is actually looking positive - not in getting any money back, which I didn't expect unless they were wrong. But they are making an effort to keep me as a customer which is a good sign.

I will do online account from now as has been suggested.

To me it is odd that the help is being offered regarding the electric - but it was the misreading of the gas that led to the c*ck up.

For information - past 24 hours, 16 units of electric used and 1 unit of gas.

    :o:o:o

Oh ps John - I've got a dishwasher!!! But really don't want to stop using that - spend a good time in the kitchen as it is after work.... unless you want to come round and wash the dishes for me and wipe up, but then if did it that way, that would push up my gas reading. ;) I could do with a wife but I'm not that way inclined. :D

If you were so inclined, your gas and electricity billing problems would pale into insignificance!

    For those not interested...

Elec - 15 units in 24 hours and the washing machine went on once...

    Gas - it hasn't changed.

    For those not asleep.

Have used a whole unit of gas over the past five days  :D

You know, I'd find it easier to understand if the mishap over readings had been on the elec side... and I owed all that money. Used 90 units over the past 5 days.

Meanwhile, Scottish Power have been nice and answered most of my emails, just waiting on the last one. Think they may offer me a deal at most for the hassle. Shame they couldn't contribute to my overdraft, not surprised, am a realist.

I'm hoping to now manage it all online. SP have said I have to wait awhile first, not sure why, - but would be grateful meanwhile for some tips on how to and what to and what not to.. :D

    SP have sent me this:

    Thank you for your email.

The last agent put you on the fixed price energy from the 20 May 2008.

The unit prices remain the same at 9.025 kwh for electricty and 2.62 kwh for gas. The monthly cost for this fixed price is taken by icreasing the daily service charge. At present for electricity it is 10.76 per day after 20 May 2008 15.45 per day, at present for gas it is 11.63 per day after 20 May 2008 16.32 per day.

They sent it in an email today. Is this a good offer? Wish I had a better head for figures.. :o

Its fixed but they don't seem to say til when..
