I have just put my house on the market in Leicester and has been on a week now and had 6 viewings (no offers yet though).

I think there are still people looking, but there are not many buyers around at the moment. As ours is an ideal first time buyer house, I think it might take a while to sell! Most of the people looking are people downsizing.

Would like to hear how everyone else is getting along.

I do think that is part of the problem with the bigger houses, a lot of the smaller ones are selling but the larger ones seem to have been on the market a while.

I know a couple that must have been on the market a year or so, one did have a sold notice up for a week, but then I presume their buyer must have pulled out.

Hey ho, all good fun!!! Good Luck, hopefully you will get an offer soon!:D

If people know you're on a flood plain though (regardless of the fact your house escaped the last flood by 100yds) they simply won't be interested, period.

    Rob

The problem is when you live in Hull most properties are on the flood plain. Almost everyone I know was either near flooding or had flood damage, gardens flooded, water was up to the back door etc.

If you live in Hull East or West, that is just how it is, nobody would ever move house again if they wouldn't move to a property that escaped the flood by 100 yards!:D

I'm really surprised that a lovely house like yours isn't snapped up at sub £200K, but I don't know the area. Down here in the South Hams area of Devon it would fetch at least double that, probably half a million. I would try again with another agent, or hang on until the market improves, unless you really have to move.

With regards to the flood thing, if you are looking for a house in Hull then you don't really have much choice than to buy in a flood risk area. They fact that the house itself didn't flood can only be a good thing in such an area.

The house prices are a lot lower up here and we can afford to drop our price significantly before being in -ve equity, its just if the person we want to buy from would do the same.

I just do not want to end up in the position of lowering the price of our house and then nobody else doing the same.

The area is lovely here, neighbours are nice etc, not a crowded estate like a lot of the modern ones, but unfortunately we do have to move and sooner rather than later!

If you want to sell you need to slash you asking price.

Knock £10k of every week until it sells.

Simple Rule: Until the buyer cash is in your pocket, your house is worth exactly £0

I think your name says it all SquatNow, after 20 weeks the OP would be doing just that:rotfl:
