and for the really stingy little bits that are left when everything else is used then make some cheese and ham toasted sandwiches. Add the shreds of ham to a cheese sandwich and pop in the toaster bags from the pound shop. We had these last week and they were absolutely delish!!!

Ended up using the good bits in a sweet and sour sauce. Worked a treat. But I still have some left and may use some of the other ideas on Monday. Just have to decide which one...

    I've been Money Tipped!
I bought a bag of offcuts that contained large pieces.

I cut one up into slices and tried grilling it like you would with gammon steaks but it was quite tough and chewy.

Instead I put them all in my slow cooker with a bit of water (about 2cm high) and cooked them for abut 8 hours on low.

When cool I cut them up and made about 5 different dishes from them ie pasta sauces etc.
  • You could fry some of the gammon pieces with fajita seasoning, peppers, onions, mushrooms etc and serve in wraps with some salad and salsa.

My OH makes a wonderful chicken and gammon pie with a creamy sauce filling, unfortunately I don't know the recipe to pass on :(
  • hi, i cooked a medium size piece of gammon ham last sunday in my slow cooker, it was for the kids school sandwiches, but typically they didnt want ham that week! i have used some but still have quite a bit left which needs using asap. i no it will freeze but was hoping you guys:rolleyes: would have some nice idea`s and recipes for soups but not split pea, and pies etc would be very greatful thanks.:p

When i have leftover gammon and some chicken, i tend to make a cheese sauce (flour, milk, butter and cheese) and mix in the scraps of gammon and chicken and add some cooked leeks.

Go's great with pasta, rice or potatos, or as a low carb option cauliflower rice :)

My whole family love this recipes so much so that i tend to organise doing chicken and gammon on consecutive days so ill have the leftovers :)
  • Chop the gammon up & add it to a tin of mushroom or chicken soup & serve with pasta.

    Things I do with gammon:

Use it instead of bacon in a spaghetti carbonara
Mix it into a cauliflower cheese, macaroni cheese or any variation thereof
Bake some potatoes, mix the potato with gammon and cheese and bake, then eat with tomato salad and broccoli
Slice it and reheat it in gravy, serve with mash and broad beans

Basically, anything that I'd do involving ham or bacon, I'd be happy doing with cooked gammon.

    Hi

I've made risotto with it (add to the rice in small chunks towards the end of the cooking time), and pie with leeks and cheese sauce.
