  • hi Hope someone can help. Six years ago 20 families all moved into a housing association new build estate. Most of us had previously been in temporary accommodation. When we moved in we were asked to pay the rent in advance we could either pay weekly fortnightly or monthly aslong as we paid in advance Most of us set up direct debits for the beginning of the month to pay for the whole month. they have been happy with this, Now six years down the line they are saying they should have asked us for a month's deposit when we moved in and they want us now to pay it. For those who opted to pay weekly they only have to pay 1 week's deposit. Can they do this after all this time?

    Hi Susan-m

If you'd like to repost your query as a separate thread you'll be likely to get plenty of responses - go on to the main House Buying Renting and Selling Board and look up at the top left -New Thread button is there:)

Hi mattsmummy - welcome as a newbie poster.

As for susan-m, if you go onto the main "house buying renting and selling" board and look up at the top left - there is a blue "New Thread" button. If you hit that and re-post your query you're more likely to get some helpful respond posts

  • Hi, i would like to please see where i stand in a situation...we have a three bedroom council property, which my mum, my 22 year old brother and me a 25 year old lives in, we all work full time so we pay full rent and full council tax and claim no benefits at all. My question is...is it aloud or could we get in trouble if my girlfriend moves in with us and stays in my room with me, she is also not claiming any benefits, this will also jus be a temporary arrangement while we are saving up for a place of are own...please help.

    Thank you for your time

  • Can anyone help? Our boiler broke last week, and over a week later the landlady hasn't authorised full repairs - it's currently open with all wires hanging out where there has been a temporary repair. What are my rights? I want to check before withholding rent whether I have a leg to stand on!
    Thanks in advance.
  • Really nice ...:j
