  • I have found sites like RentBetween.com to be very helpful as they offer reviews from previous tenants!
  • Hi,
My family (wife and two children) have been happily renting a property for over ten years now, we have never missed or been late with the rent. Over the years we have obviously accumulated a lot of stuff, so when our landlord informed us that they wanted to sell and we had to be out within two months it came as a bit of a shock. I know I'm only a tenant and will have to move out, but how much time can I reasonably expect in order to find somewhere new, and then move everything I have to the new address?
Many thanks to anybody reading this and responding.
    Kind Regards

You don't have to be out within two months. What you have is a notice to say that the landlord is going to seek possession. It might take 6 months for him to get a court date.

How much is a lot of stuff? Think of it as a good chance to have a good clear out. We have lived in our house for 30 years and I am having a really good clear out at present. It is surprising what you find that you have forgotten that you had. If you have forgotten that you had it you don't need it.

Please note this thread is very old. A number of changes have taken place in the law since it was written so some (not all) of the original advice is out of date or misleading.

As for the notice required, see
