It sounds as though you had lodgers, for which you would not use a *tenancy* agreement.0 -
We are looking to rent a place around £650 and have been told we would need a deposit of around 6 weeks.
We are trying to work out how much we would need before we could move:
RENT = £650
DEPOSIT = £900
HOLD DEPOSIT = £150+
REMOVALS = £100-200
REF CHECKS =
Rent is fine & we should have the deposit by Christmas. The holding deposit comes out the main deposit right? I have no clue about ref checks and we can't afford to pay more than one months rent.
We will be moving our virgin media contract over to the new place.
ALSO: I get paid the last friday of the month and my parent around the 25th of each month, should we work out the rent to be paid the last day of the month?0 -
Thanks for posting, I found it very useful. I am keen to move out, and have considered both flatsharing and trying to manage my own place by getting a room mate. I am a little apprehensive about the whole thing, it is a big step. I found your advice very useful though and will definitely take it into consideration.0

Hi
Would just like to ask, what's the worst that could happen using an estate agent that is not affiliated with ARLA (any other similar organisations).
Am sorry if this has been asked before given the length of the thread, but would appreciate your responses.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hi, after 13 months my landlord is selling my home and I hate the viewings as it's my personal space.
I have found somewhere new to rent and it is available immediately. With Christmas looming I would like to be in before the 25th and ideally would like to move on the 10th December.
Do I still have to give my LL the full notice? He is insisting on two months but after reading your guide it would look like I only have to give a month maximum as my initial contract of 12 months has now expired. Is this correct?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated0 -

http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/renting_and_leasehold/ending_a_tenancy_or_licence/ending_a_periodic_agreement#1It is always best to give notice in writing and ensure that the notice ends on the first or last day of the period of a tenancy.
Cheers!

Hi guys I'm new to this forum I hope this is in the right place!
I moved in to a new flat yesterday, its a much older property than my last place where I hadn't actually needed to put on the heating at all this year so far.
The new place is the upstairs of a period converted house and it is freezing. When I first got in the thermostat in the living room said 8 degrees and after the heating being on all day it got up to 15.5 by half 9. I turned it off and went to bed after a long day only to wake up at 12:30 because the air I was breathing was so cold it was uncomfortable to breathe in. My body is still quite cold in a sleeping bag under my duvet. Now the thing is the bedroom has two large centrally heated radiators one of which is right next to me adjacently and is hot to the touch. I got up at 1 or so and put the heating back on and noticed the thermostat was reading 12degrees in the living room, the bedroom is noticeably colder however and the heating has been on 8 hours overnight so far. I have a large single glazed sash window in the bedroom which is freezing to walk past. The Walls are also very cold to the touch.
Is there anything I can do? I was concerned about heating so when viewing the flat made sure I went for central heating and noticed the bedroom has two large radiators. I can see my breath!
Am I screwed?0
