It's incredible isn't it, how virtually just the width of the river ( go on then, a bit more than that!!:rotfl: ) can make such a big difference to our weather? Over here it was like Giants were emptying their bathtubs!!! Gutters overflowing, drains unable to cope, there was a veritable river running down the road!!! All dried up now, and the sun keeps trying to come through, but not making that good a fist of it. Bet you're in blazing sunshine!:rotfl:

We have ones like this in NZ, called "White Tails", dont what what yours looked like but ours are quite a long bodied spider rather than round. A pale brown colour and have a white bit on the tail. The do have felsh dissolving venom, we've had cases where people have lost an arm due to a bite. They're also heat seeking so I used to always check my bed during the night in case one had crept in:eek:

JOANNASMUM - Hope they get the w*****s who nicked your car.
SCUZZ - Thinking of you today.

Well, I've just been to the preschool to pick up DS after his morning session only to be told that his session times have changed and he shouldnt have been there this morning!!!!!:o :o:o:o I could have cried, HOW EMBARRASSING!!! Bless them though for not calling me back to get him, he would have been very upset to leave mid session. I think I was too shocked to thank them properly for that today so MUST do it tomorrow.

Might crack on with some baking today but then again I'd rather sit here and research my veg plot so think I will do that instead :p.

Off for a healthy salad now (boring).

    Hello!
Can I join the PMT club today...nothing is going quite right today and I've just learnt that one of my best friends is leaving the country which has saddened me.
Anyway gripe over...onwards and upwards. We used our slow cooker last night for the Waitrose sausage and apple gravy recipe. Added some of my HM aromatic herbaceous seasoning that I made on my course last week. Gorgeous. It was a thank you supper for my parents for all the support they give us looking after the small person during the hols whilst we're working.
Am deliberately having a quiet evening in tonight and doing as little as possible as didn't sleep much after the news about my friend. Shall have a rummage around the https://www.baldwins.co.uk site methinks as they supply all sorts of herbs and I want some dried winter savoury [v gd planted next to beans and peas to stop blackfly for all you veggie growers out there] as I'm making some more of the seasoning with my friend next week for Chrimbo presents.
Am rather proud of myself of the progress I've made on the Crimble shopping front. Managed to bags an afternoon to myself on Sat and found loads. Reckon I'm 2/3 of the way through and got some great bargains...an immaculate hardback barefoot book [12.99 full price] for 40p for the small person, a body lab kit from 14.99 to 3.99 in Oxfam and lots of charity shop gifts in mint condition.
    Have a good day everyone

    Hi All

Just dropped DS off at school - he's doing afternoons this week, they let them start gently. I can't believe how good he's being. I totally relate to all the crying stories he used to be a little devil going to nursery, crying and lying on the floor and holding on to me. But as you say, right as rain and happy as larry as soon as I left.

Mum and Dad popping in on the way home from france so kids and I have made a victoria sponge. I was determined not to go to the supermarket so we had to make something from the contents of the cupboards. And it's turned out lovely, a sponge was about the only thing mum taught me how to make - you never forget, 4 4 4 and 2. (looks like the grocery challenge is finally kicking in!)

Off to do the ironing, cleaned the bathroom this morning - it's supposed to be DHs job but he doesn't do it often enough. Every 3 months just isn't good enough - he does it very well when he does it, just not often enough.

Joannasmum that's awful about your car - I think the scariest bit is that you were in the house at the time.:grouphug:

    :hello:to everyone else.

Back from the dentist, with one side of my face totally numb. At least he did a proper repair, not just a temporary one so I don't have to go back again.

Can eat again in a few minutes if I can manage it without spitting crumbs everywhere, but I am hungry.

Aussielass - there you have the reason I couldn't live down under, all the venomous creepy crawlys, I'm bad enough with our harmless ones.

Purple Princess - you go girl, you've done so well since April you're debt free date will soon come and let me tell you it's a wonderful feeling. We've been debt free since April and just this weekend were marvelling at the things we've managed to do and the amount of money we've got saved since then.
  • Remember the plum "toffee"? Well, just had my second cooking disaster. Did a trial run of the diabetic oatmeal cookies for my Dad. It's an american recipe and I was able to convert all of the weights and ingredients with the exception of one. The recipe called for 1 tsp of caramyl (or some other weird name) liquid sugar subsitute. I didn't have that so I use 1 tsp of fructose sugar dissolved in water. Obviously not as sweet at the american stuff as the cookies aren't sweet at all. Plus I didn't have rolled oats so I used the Jumbo oats I have. Cookies look like rock cakes!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I wonder what the third disaster will be?

Just hope it isn't the sausage casserole I intend to make later for dinner.
