But it would only come back if people offered to do the lists

One thing I don't get is people saying they don't have time to look through for comps ending themselves so they need the comps ending threads... but then they offer to compile comps ending threads themselves so they must have time to do it  also i think a lot of people will still offer just to boost their thanks.

If the comps ending thread is there its always going to cause conflict.. If its gone it will take a while for everyone to get used to it but then they'd just get used to it and it would just be normal for it not to be there.

Like Kipper says though, its the people higher up that often make the final decision
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I can't believe that people would spend the time producing a comp ending thread during a suspension if they knew it would be deleted.

Ummm it wouldn't be deleted, if they wish to compile they save it to a computer, if the lists get the go ahead then post it.

Comps ending threads do vary in size admittedly but I can't believe it takes that long to do, plus the fact they are willing to do it as they have put themselves forward

Can anyone who has compiled a list give a rough estimate of how long it took please, cos I can Game Over 200 comps in about an hour (and thats with interruptions from PM's) and I have to go through the list like anyone that does a comps ending thread :)

If people have an hour or two to do the comp ending thread, then surely they can just spend that time going through the pages themselves, they may miss one or two to start with but after a couple of weeks most people will have the hang of it

I think it varies, if I do it on the day straight into a new thread, then it takes couple of hours due to putting them into correct sections. If it is a very long list like last day of the month it takes a lot longer as you need to have a few new threads open, does that make sense???

I haven't found a quick way of saving it to wordpad yet  that way takes me the longest but this way you can do over a few days

I would say it took me 1-2 hours, after fiddling round with links/tidying it up etc.

    *Edit* I don't have kids though ;)

Right so basically what you are saying is you may spend an hour or so compiling it by going through the board, then a few more hours listing and sorting it, which in effect means its taking away your comping time for the benefit of others?

    As a newbie/lurker, here's my twopenceworth:

It takes me at least a couple of hours to do a comps ending list, and I've never done the month end

I volunteer to do them because every comp I find (well, bar two in six months! :rotfl:) is already posted and I want to contribute *somehow*.

How about, instead of the "comps ending" sticky, there is a "comps ending threads will be deleted" sticky :DEDIT - I mean during the suspension :D

I "thank" every comp I look at, whether I enter it or not, just because I think it's hard work looking for comps and then searching to see if it's already posted, etc etc.

I "subscribe" to each comp thread I've entered, so I see at a glance on the forum where I've got to and what I've entered.

I'm doing tonights comps ending (8th August) and was planning to post about 11pm - no problem to leave it until tomorrow morning, if that was the original agreement. Can someone let me know if that's preferred, thanks.

So I wonder if those that just use the comps ending thread think that is fair on the OP? because I don't. Ok you have volunteered to do it, but at the time I don't think people realised the way this would go and there is more and more comps going on the board.

For example I logged off at 12am and by the time I logged on this morning 4!! pages of comps had gone on... thats not normal

I've gotta go for a bit now, but please keep the debate raging :D

*goes off whistling I predict a riot* :rotfl:
