peej, I like your thinking
I can't sleep hence being on here at an ungodly hour and I was thinking of running a poll to see what the latest view on the comps ending thread is...
BUT
I'd like to make it an unanonymous one, where people can see who has voted, I think it would be interesting to see what the take up of people is for and against it (ie oldies or newbies) cos I have a funny feeling most of the people that will want it to stay will be the newer ones (sorry peeps, but that is my opinion)
I'm actually also wondering how many people have come and "joined" the board since these lists have been up and running as it is a quick and easy/lazy :rotfl: of entering the comps
Thoughts please you guys0 -
One more bugbear of mine, how many people enter comps for kids (under 18, under 16, whatever) comps when they neither have kids to enter for or just want the prize for themselves/to sell on? I know CITV & Popcorn both stopped doing comps for this reason but I have noticed a lot less comps for kids in general, I know my DD loves doing the kids ones.2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

I know what you mean, my boys check what comps are in their magazines before they part with their money now, but they haven't won anything for months now which is a real shame as they used to get sooo excited when a parcel turned up for them.
I think it is selfish and mean for people to enter kids comps when they have no kiddies of their own. :mad:0 -
Well I'd say there would have been a definite up turn in members coming to this board since the comps ending threads were started, exactly the same way the board went mad after competitions were a part of Martin's IPTW programme, in the space of 20 mins after that programme went out the board went from 300 viewing to nearly 900! and ever since it has been largely viewed board, I remember the days when the average views were around 100 -150!
and having an unanonymous poll is nothing to do with a "us and them" divide at all, I personally as a BG of this board would find it interesting and definitely wouldn't hold it against anyone. Polls don't always give a fair representation anyway as there would bound to be people who didn't even bother to vote as they are unbugged about the topic either way.0 -

I agree i'd never enter kids ones as i don't have kids, and even though i'd often like the prizes, i'd be taking it away from the kids. I also have the same bugbear about people who enter comps intended for students by pretending to be one, as a studious student, thrills in life are few and far between, and my food budget of £8 a week has become normallity, there are many prizes on student sites which i would dearly love to win, then i see on the "thanks" buttons that it has had 300 odd entrants....i sit and think are all MSEers students?? doubt it!2008 wins: £1713.20
2009 wins: Jan: Cadburys choc set £2, Book of rubbish ideas £6, Hair treatment £10 Feb: Xbox 360! £tbc
This will be mine in 2009 challenge: Cash/vouchers - [strike]Games console[/strike] - Hamper0 -

same here my daughters love entering the comps aimed for them like the daily disney one but they are yet to win anything yet though.
☼ thankyou to all who post the comps ☼0 -
I've been thinking about the comp ending threads. A couple of months ago when it all kicked off, i was for them as i was fairly new and it was an easy option. I volunteered to do a comps ending list and took 3 hours going through the threads to make sure i got them all listed. I remember thinking "thank god for the ending lists, i couldn't do this every day!"
Now after seeing the competitive ugliness which has developed, i am also thinking maybe they should go. I would certainly still stay as a member of the MSE community (this site has been a lifesaver!)
But i wanted to know what technique is best for going through the board? Do you list them by date and just enter them all, what happens when threads are bumped? As someone with little time i'd totally appreciate it if someone could PM me with suggestions so i can get a head start before the ending lists go. ps, i know about checking the thanks
Here's to a more friendly community without comps ending! Woop! lol2008 wins: £1713.20

i dont enter the kiddies or 'student' comps (i enter the art ones on behalf of my sister, cos she's an art student), but i always tick the thanks button...for one i know i've already looked at it, and secondly, someone has still taken the time to post it for everyone else, so it seems nice to say thanks, even if its not useful for me. I dont think i'm the only one who does that...or maybe i am just weird and too mannerful?0
