Haven't rung the Courts up yet, I know, I know!
Bit of a down day today. Got 3 letters from 3 loan companies, saying I had missed the payment, charging me late payment fee, telling me to pay etc etc...I have never had one of these in my life and its horrible! I know I have to do this but I don't like it.
Just thought I would tell you about sneaky Halifax. I have my current account with them and also a credit card bill. So obviously, I cancelled that DD early last week. Checked my bank account online today, and surprise surprise, it had reappeared...how can they do that without my permission! If I had not seen it...and cancelled it again...that would have been £227 coming out of my current account, which would have made us overdrawn and also we would not have eaten for the rest of the month. I hope it still doesn't come out, its due to come out today but hasn't come out yet. I can hardly ring up and complain, they will ask me why I cancelled it...and all the other DDs in my current account...I know I could make something up, but at the moment, paranoia is setting in and I feel that everyone that I owe money to, knows what I am up to.
I need to ring the Courts tomorrow!
Hope everyone is having a good day. xx"Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

Hi summer
I think whats happening here is that the bank are using the right to 'off-set' its a common practice and i'm not sure what exactly you can do about it.
I believe (though hopefully someone will help me out on this one) that you can send a letter to the bank and ask them not to do this. Whether they listen or not, i have no idea.

Hopefully someone who knows a little more than me, or someone with the type of letter you need to send, will help you more.
EDIT: they are not supposed to leave you in a situation of severe hardship whereby you can't eat. Can't find any template letters at the mo, but will keep searchingThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. More info. Its called the Right of Appropriation. Heres a template letter that you could use, although it may be too late. The parts in red need to be adjusted for your own persoanl circumstances.
RIGHT OF APPROPRIATION
Dear Sir/Madam,
ACCOUNT NUMBER: xxxxxxxxx
I am writing to inform you that I am due to have a Tax Credit payment of £xxx paid into my account on xx/xx/xx, and I wish to use my first right of appropriation for this money, for the following purposes;
Rent £xx
Utilities bills £xx
Housekeeping money £xx
I will withdraw the money on the day that it is deposited for the above use, and I would be grateful if you would ensure that any other payments out of my account do not interfere with this withdrawal.
Yours faithfully,
[signature]
[print name]
Hope that helps.:D

Mmm, thats interesting. We have £200 left in our current account, there are still a couple of priority DDs to come out and obviously food for the rest of the month. So they see the fact that as I have that in current account with them, I should pay the credit card bill. Flaming cheek! If they take that money, I will be arrears on priority bills and have no money for food!
Do you think I should withdraw the money that is in the current account, just leaving enough to cover the priority DDs that are still to come out? Or will they still take the £237 out anyway so I go overdrawn?
Grrrrrr."Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"
