It depends how often you use it. I got mine free too.
I also find using a "blu-loo" hides the stains in the water so I don't clean the loo as often.0 -
My loo stains too but I just use the loo brush at the end of every day and don't have a problem.I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

I'm not really a fan of loo brushes but after reading all your tips I think I might have to reconsider. :undecided0

Re: Loo brushes
On one of the Kim and Aggie programmes they shouted at someone for having a brownish loo brush saying that the brown was poo! My loo brush rusts on the spikes so I replace it when it starts to go - though the current one I have had 5 yrs and it hasn't rusted yet. Perhaps they are too cheap lol0 -
I've just gone and checked mine after reading your post exlibris - thankfully it's not brown!I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Better orf with just a sponge/scourer, then rest it in a bleach bowl, throwaway style. This is getting personal.0

I use vinegar as per my post above, but once a month or thereabouts I douse the bowl with bleach, starting from just under the rim. Then I place the brush in the bowl so that it stays for a while in the bleach'water mix. After about 30 minutes I flush and both brush and toilet and sparkling.
Bleach is not environmentally friendly, but I think there is a place for it once in a while.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
I've heard of people using a cheap coke and leaving it in overnight.
Put's you off drinking it
Tesco value sugar free cola is 20 p for 2 litres - I'm not sure if the active ingredient is in this type - perhaps you'll have to spend 44p on 2 litres of ordinary stuff.0 -

95p will buy and sewage treat over 80 gallons of water in my area - it's cheaper and more hygenic to flush the damn' thing !0
