I’ve not been flushing my No1s for awhile now; however, I’ve notice that it doesn’t half stain the loo. I’ve been putting bleach down the loo every 3 or 4 days and even tried using vinegar but find I can’t seem to shift the stains. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could shift these stains form my loo? Preferably something that will acquire minimal effort to shift stains too as I don’t fancy scrubbing the pan for hours on end if I can help it!
Thanks!
Thanks!

If your loo is like mine it's the limescale that gets stained.
I got a free bottle of Harpic Power Plus and that works great.
Vinegar works too, but you have to push the water out of the bowl fist. You can also use kitchen paper or loo paper soaked in vinegar. Do it last thing at night, or when the house is going to be empty during the day to give it maximum time to work.0 -

Prevention is better than the cure! When you've been to the toilet try flushing:cool:0 -
i can understand you not flushing to saving water, but if thats the source of the problem perhaps it might be an idea to flush where possible with recycled water? save water from tasks such as washing up into a jug, and pour that into the loo. you could also use a water butt to collect and recycle rainwater for the same purposeknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

You get a toilet brush and push it into the bowl, quite quickly. This pushes some of the water over the U bend and the rest flows back. Then pull the brush our of the water and "push" again when the water is flowing back towards the U bend (away from you).
Once you get a rhythm going you can push most of the water out of the bowl. Just push the brush down, pull it out again and when the water is going down push the brush in again to give it a helping hand over the U bend.
The more water you get out of the bowl the less there is to dilute whatever you are using to clean it.
WARNING: Not flushing first and being over enthusiastic with the brush can result in pee in your eye. This will sting and cause embarrassment if you do it just before leave for work. Try telling your boss your bloodshot eyes are not the result of a night on the beer, but from pee in your eye!0 -
Thanks geordie joe, very helpful!
And thanks for your tips pavlovs_dog! I could get a water butt but this would be a bit problematic when living in a 2 floor flat.0 -
Sainsbury's are selling Harpic Power Plus 750ml bottles for 95p until 27/05/2008 so might get a couple of bottles. Hope it does the trick!
Thanks again!0 -
I live alone and flush every two or three "uses" (but every time when I have guests!). Once a week I clear most of the water from the bowl as described above and pour about two tumblers full of vinegar in it, topping up with water to reach the water line.
I leave it overnight and in the morning after using the loo I flush. Clean and sparkling!Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Thanks Quasar, might give that a go too!0

I use vinegar (Tescos best 14pence) in an empty bowl, using your method Joe.
Then leave it several hours or overnight.0
