Do local farmer's sell milk to the public at a reduced price? So, would it be possible to pop down to the local farm and stock up on a weekly basis? Thanks in advance,0

Indeed but what's your point?

What do you expect buying Plums out of season? They'll be 90p a lb come August !!!!!!.0 -

lol vegans would be even better BUT
if we all became veggie then we wouldnt waste food feeding it to livestock that are fed for slaughter. Instead we could put the grains to more direct use feeding ourselves.Merry Christmas MSE!0 -
Were the supermarkets not in the news for price-fixing over the price of milk? Not really sure what it was all about but they got in trouble!
Like Calley said the price of fuel/grain has risen dramatically and obviously the farmers producing the milk aren't immune to these (and suppose this will also apply to the likes of firstmilk, arla, dairycrest, robert wiseman, etc, etc).0 -

I am a vegetarian-practically vegan but I 'slip' when eating abroad etc, but do not suggest for one moment anyone becomes vegetarian, let alone vegan...unless you know a hell of alot about nutrition and cooking you can put your children at risk and dairy products are very important for them. My own child eats meat and dairy!
Perhaps that instead of worrying about eating produce, like meat and milk, that we manage to 'produce' in this country we should concentrate more in buying seasonal vegetables and fruits and reasonable prices instead of carting over priced goods all acrooss the world, further draining our pockets and reducing our own economy?
I know sometimes it is restrictive to eat seasonal only products but there are ways around it, like freezing seasonal berries etc for use later. And after not eating something for a while, it becomes a real treat.
Off topic, but still funny in a annoying way...last time I went to cyprus they were taking spinach from the UK off the plane. Next to the plane was a shippment of spinach...being shipped to the UK. Go figure! No wonder our food is so expensive!
BTW...veggie4life, not being funny with you, just putting a different slant on it0 -
Is it just me or have eggs gone up lately too? I try and get organic ones and I was Morrisons last week and though the eggs were at Waitrose prices.0
