mirry, I've got a victoria plum tree and they are not kidding! You've made a brilliant choice as they are delicious and the branches hit the floor with all the fruit come August. (threatened to pull mine up after 3 years of meager pickings...its has been overflowing ever since.)
What the heck is happening with rice? The value stuff in Tescos and Asda has doubled in price..now just short of a £1.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I have a small garden but am making it work
I just purchased myself a semi dwarf , self fertalising "VICTORIA PLUM TREE"
it says its a very heavy cropper , and that I may have to support the branches due to the weight of the plums ,lol.
I think this is the way to go.
I also have a cherry tree called "Stella" for sweet eating cherries.
And a dwarf apple tree.
Grow tomatoes and my lettace (pick and come again) in tubs.
I am cancelling my milkman at 58p a pint:eek:
We have one of the Victoria Plum tree's, We have to tie the branches up now as one year most of them broke due to the weight of the plums0 -
Been to my local Tesco this morning and they are selling 2x6pints of milk for £3. Usually £2.12 each.
I think both offers are on until the 15th of June. It wasn't well advertised - only the normal little labels on the edge of the shelf in yellow instead of white. I wouldn't have known about it, if it hadn't been for this thread.0 -
My local shop sells 2 litres at £1.20?? I am surprised the supermarkets are selling in some cases higher than the local shops. Are the farmers finally getting a fairer price for their milk?0

2 litres £1.50 from Somerfield  .
Think I’ll buy a cow would probably work out cheaper.
Grow your own you know it makes sense.0 -
The Nisa near me has 2 litres for £1.09, how long that will last though I don't know! Not good news, I get through a lot of milk.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Local shop 2 litres currently 89p was 79p not long back.
We have several small shops and smallish supermarkets in the same groups of shops, so is some competition for things like bread, milk and eggs.
Was only a few months back when branded bread (800g) was 59p when the 'big' supermarkets were over £1, it went up quite quickly, 65p, 69p and now 79p - still it's cheaper than the big supermarkets. Not that we eat much bread - myself I don't really like bread. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
