Have you seen the price of fuel diesel is nearly £1.30 a litre. How do you think things get to the supermarket.
The price of grain has risen and that means everything that uses it or eats it has more costs. e.g a beef farmer that feeds grain to his cows will end up paying more for his feed so the cost of the end product rises.
And to be truthful the cost of food has been too cheap for to long. I personally don't for see prices reducing much if at all.

I wonder if its related to the cost of fuel rocketing. Transporting any goods looks set to rise in cost.0

The jusitifcation is supply and demand. Supply hasn't increased at the pace of the demand and with problems in production, prices are rocketing. Get use to it, the poor nations are now getting richer so can afford better food so are bidding for it against richer countries. You are still luckier than the poor nations that aren't china or india who aren't booming economies as they truely are struggling with the prices. At least you can still afford it, it just means you might have to cut back on beer money or not buy that item of clothing this month you really wanted.0 -
