Moving House OH Been refused time off...!!

    Because no one asked me to explain. There was a note of irony, I was suggesting that we should be able to demand time off whenever we feel like it, even to the detriment of the company we work for. We are all however agreed it seems that Confused can take as much time off as he needs, then take a swim that needs no towel.

    Well obviously we shouldn't be able to demand time off when we want it but if an employer provides for such days as removals days then it isn't to the detriment of the company is it?
    I was only asking if they had checked there was no such provision.
    The police (one of the two organisations I know about) are excellent when it comes to things such as compassionate leave, unpaid longterm career breaks, removals days and the like. They are also pretty good on short notice leave etc.
    The NHS aren't so good, they like to offer the minimum legal requirements.
    I think it depends on the employer but if I were in the situation I would delay completion until the following week when I could get leave.

    We are planning on me taking an annual leave day and OH taking a removals day when we move, but we don't have children. If I can't get annual then he will start the move on his own and I will come as soon as I finish work.

    If I had children I think things would be more awkward, twin babies aren't exactly the easiest to look after during such a day. Having worked in a nursery when I was a student, the fees that the nursery nurses charged for private clients on the weekends was extortionate and would probably make the cost prohibitive if money is tight.
