DWP Selection tests...

I've just applied for an EO post in the lastest round of vacancies, the closing date is tomorrow. I think I might also apply for an AO post to have double the chance of getting something with DWP
I was wondering though - do you think the DWP will give priority to applicants currently unemployed and claiming benefits when it comes to allocating jobs to successful candidates?
It would make sense that they themselves reduce the unempoyment figure wouldn't it?0 -
I failed the Literacy test. Does anyone know where I could get a copy of it?0
-
No
everything in the selection is fair and based on who is the best. hence the tests are the same and the interviews are the same.
You misunderstood me. I didn't mean would I be selected over other applicants just because I am unemployed. But in the cases where they have more successful applicants than vacancies, I just wondered if an unemployed person stands more chance of not going on the waiting list iykwim?0 -
No, unfortunately its all about your score. If you pass then you get offered a post, if you don't, then you won't.
If you pass the interview score that they set but others get a higher interview score then you're placed on a waiting list for 12 months. If they require more staff then they'll contact everyone on the list before doing another recruitment drive.

I've got the tests next week and can't wait.
I'm a bit confused about the AA, AO and EO bits though, what do they mean and which is the higher grade?
I applied for an Executive Officer position which I assume is EO but what are AA and AO?

I have failed the literacy test twice but can not see the mistakes, I think its down to the speed that I read it as all the mock ones I manage easily.
Wondering if any of you have some advise on how to spot the mistakes and if anyone who has passed it can remember some of them for me.0 -

Does anyone know what the expected dress code is when attending these selection tests? Thanks0

I passed both tests and my interview is on the 3rd of March. *fingers crossed*
In Norfolk, its looking like about 400 people have applied for roughly 70 jobs within the Jobcentre so lots of competition!
I've applied for the AO position.
I found the tests harder than I thought they would be and was convinced I had failed them, so I was like a loony when we opened our envelopes outside to see if we got through.
Rcool80, There isnt a dress code, but personally I went dressed as I would for work, as most people did. But some people turned up in right scruffs...Had my amazing little girlie 08/12/2007 - 11 days late! 9lbs 3oz
My second little girl entered the world 20/03/2010 - 11 days late! 8lbs 4oz
Sealed pot challenge 4 - 332
Make £11k in 2011 £0/£11000 - 0%
And lots of other challenges!

I went in my work wear but some people turned up looking very casual.
Don't think it makes any difference at all, you're in a room with lots of other people and they just call your name at the end with the results.
Good luck Laurenjs88“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”
