Kitty, this is the first time I have heard that there was ratios on the numeracy test. Please can you give a few examples of what the questions were like?

    Thanks.
    NS.

I had ratios on mine too but gotta be honest i cant remember much about them, and i took a wild stab at them cos maths (well ratios) are not remotely my strongest subeject! I remember i left them till last, went thru the test and did all i could do accurately first, then decided i probably had enough correct answers to do a few foul ups so i just guessed at the ratios and i think at one of the either fraction or percentage ones.

Sorry i cant be of more help:o

Don't worry they will not interview you on the same day that you have set the selection tests.

    won't they?

my OH goes next week to a test/interview day.

tests are held 1st and if she passes she WILL be interviewed. i have a feeling the DWP are looking for staff quite quickly just now.

so i guess it depends on what your letter says. if it doesnt mention interviews then i am sure you won't be interviewed.
  • it just says selection tests and i should expect to be there for 50 minutes or so so fingers crossed... my head is done in revising percentages and fractions and its all going in one ear and out the other! as or ratios....

will it just be simple percentages or will it be complicated stuff like converting percentages into fractions, or mixed fractions etc?
  • i went today and boy do i not regret spending more time on percentages and ratios!!! the literacy test involved proof reading a memo and circling 15 errors which was fine and we were given 8 mins to do it

the maths test was more complicated, i think 20 questions in 18 minutes, i randomly guessed 5 ( the ratio and percentage ones) as i didnt have a clue my brain just would not work! i did not have time to double check or anything like that, by 11pm last night i had convinced myself it would be easy and not to panic but it was actually a lot harder than i thought.you need to be able to read data and cross reference several tables of info to get the answer , there was a few questions like ' which of the following is incorrect' which meant you had to work out the 4 possible answers which was time consuming! glad its over and they will contact us witin 10 days! (they say!)
