I recently took these tests too, and passed. I would say that they are quite easy. The problem is the amount of time you get (only just enough for the numeracy test in my opinion!)
As mentioned by someone just above this post, you will use a calculator (you won't complete the numeracy test without one) but make sure you bring one and don't rely on being given one!
The tests take about an hour in total (not including any stupid delays).
The subsequent interview was the most relaxing I've ever had....0 -
Hi
I took these tests for a EO position last week , the maths test is easy as long as you think clearly, i failed the english test. The 8 minutes flew by, I needed 11 out of 15 and got 9, gutted!! . You can take notes into the interview after , i had written loads lol, what a waste of time that was. damn computers and the easy spellcheck and grammer functions........
Nevermind job hunt goes on..:T0 -
Hi there,
I took these tests on Tuesday. To be honest I found the Maths one a bit tricky as I was never very good at percentages. The 8 minute time limit just added to the pressure. For anyone taking these tests I would suggest the following:
1. Take a ruler in for the literature test and place it under each line of text so that you're looking at one sentence at at time. As you work your way down you'll catch most of the mistakes. Hopefully you'll find the others on the second sweep.
I'm one of those people that sometimes goes blank when confronted with a test paper...this method helped me out. And also made me look like I was back at Junior school
2. If you get stuck on the maths test early on just move on to the next question. And if you find the next question difficut, move on again! I found that the last questions were a lot more easier than the one's in the middle section. If I had spent too long trying to work out those percentages I would have missed out on some easy points at the end.
If anyone has any specific questions then feel free to send me a PM.
All the best

Hi first time poster (trying not to sound like I am on a bad local radio chat show) I have done the tests a while ago and passed the maths test but failed the literacy test. After reading a lot of the post on here it does seem that if you are good at maths than you are fine and the same for literacy. I am being tested on the literacy again on Wednesday so if anyone has any hints it would be very much appreciated.0

It's no wonder this country is up !!!! creek when people are using message boards to find out test results. The whole point of a test is to test YOUR knowledge, not the knowledge of some !!!!!! who has already passed it.
What use are you going to be to the DWP if you practically bluffed your way through what are very, very basic numerical and literature tests?
I sat the EO tests 3 weeks ago and got top marks in both. Hope this helps.0 -

Oh well done to you - if only we were all as clever as you the world would be a much better place0 -
I have been invited to DWP Literacy & Numeracy tests for EO position in May.
I also applied for Benefits Delivery Officer and passed the tests and interview and now on a waiting list.
When I passed the BDO/AO tests - I got a letter with my score and it says I should show the letter when I apply for a DWP post in the future at AA, AO, EO level, as I will not have to sit the tests again provided my pass marks as described are still valid. Please note this applies to tests for posts up to Executive Officer Level
WILL I HAVE TO SIT THE EO TESTS FOR EO OR NOT OR WILL MY AO TESTS BE OK? I SAT THE TESTS FOR AO IN JAN0 -
I have been invited to sit the EO tests in May too. Problem i have is i am in the stages of Vetting for the police at the moment, so i really dont know whether its worth me going. I shouldnt fail vetting, as i am squeeky clean, and i expect a start date in the summer.
Dont know what to do now....0 -

sat AO tests nov and got letter jan saying on list and results mean i can apply upt EO. EO recruitment taking place now and i did not apply but was told i would not have to sit tests again. still on AO waiting list but if i had known where i was on list in jan ( rang last week as i was fed up waiting to hear) i would have applied for this recruitment as my contract runs out may and cannot be extended. so i may be unemployed before i can work back at JC+. People from my office have started sitting tests for EO recruitment and only 1 through so far. Think i would have had better chance at getting one of EO posts than AO. Pass rate is poor apparently and managers are concerned pass mark set too high!!! hope they dont move the goalposts again, unless of course that means my marks will mean i can apply for HEO.....0
