  • I can't fault Co-op - friendly and approved immediately. Just went into branch with passport and every thing arrived shortly afterwards.

Yeah i cant believe how great they are at Co-op while all the other banks would like to have you hanged for going BR. They were great on the phone. The lady asked why i was interested in the Cashminder account and i told them that i had been made BR the day before and she replied "no problem i just need to ask a few questions" 10 mins later i was all done.

Did not ask for ID although they did do a credit check on me which i saw showed up on my credit file that i had to send my OR.

A few days later as they said it would the card turned up quickly followed by a really good information pack. 2 days after that my payment book turned up and on saturday night just gone yep a saturday night i called the telephone banking people to set up a password and activate my internet banking. The lady on the phone was brill and even sat and waited for me to login to the account so she knew the information had worked and all gone through.

I have to say the online interface is much better than the HSBC one i used to have and you can even use that to order envelopes to send them cheques or take to the post office and the like as if you are like me and live 40miles from the nearest co-op bank.

As banks go they are a breath of fresh air and i cannot rave on about them enough. Its great that they will give you a chance after going BR and i hope they pays divends for them at a time when i can see many more people going BR.

Well done Co-op and your Staff.

Ideally afterwards but if it causes problems with DD's, wages, benefits etc then you can set one up before but stress to the bank that you want the cashminder coz of going BR and when you speak to the OR make sure he/she knows this is your post BR account (don't have loads in there else they may take an interest!!)

It's great to see all the positive words people are saying about the Co-op on this thread. I work for the Co-op (but not the Bank) and I honestly believe we are different from other banks (and retailers).

I bank with smile and have done for the past few years and have only had good experiences.

Also, for all the people who have recently joined, it might be worth considering becoming members of the Co-op. It costs £1 and then you can use your dividend card whenever you shop, but also, you get a dividend based on the average amount you hold in your bank account over the year (I'm not sure this applies to the cashminder, but I don't see why it wouldn't). Obviously, if you do become members, don't buy stuff at Co-op for the sake of it, but as another supermarket, that isn't half as good, says "every little helps"!

    Cheers

    Wally,

I was given a little card with a web address on it the other day to get a dividend card the other day. I went on the site and signed up but did not have to pay a £1 so is this the same thing?

I have to say that Co-op can say they care as when you go BR not many will help you or take the stress away whilst you try and rebuild your financial situation. It has to be said that seeing this is good publicity for them and i see there products in a different light now and i will continue to support Co-op.

    Hi K2nga

Just had a quick check on the website and it seems the £1 is now deducted from your first payment. So, yes, it is OK. I think you have the option now to receive your dividend to your bank or by cheque (or to donate it to charity). My cheque arrives twice a year which is nice.

Glad to see the Co-operative word is spreading!!!!

    Regards

    Wally
