Because they are such a basic account, a bad credit rating shouldn't be a problem. As long as there's no fraud on his credit file he should be ok.

If you want to pay cash into a coop account, all you need is the card. Card into the card reader and you hand the cash over. There is no paper work at all for the deposit (other than the paper receipt from the teller).
You should receive your PIN 2 days after the card.
I need to do some chasing then.
My card(s) weren't ordered when the account was originally opened, so even though I have the account numbers, paying in books, etc I haven't had the cards or PIN yet. I called last week and she said they would be ordered but I know the Bank Holiday would have delayed things a bit....

There is no credit check for the Cashminder account, that's why it's important to tell the bank staff you specifically want the Cashminder, and not a normal current account. They do a fraud check (as Merry_Gentry has already said).====0

Couldn't help me much cos their system updates overnight. Looks like when I rang last week the cards weren't issued

If you have your account number and ID you could go into the branch on western road and withdraw cash over the counter?
