I've just found a bag of sprouts lurking at the back of the freezer. Oh and I are not overkeen on sprouts, they were bought for Christmas last year but half of the family were unable to come for Christmas dinner due to illness. Any ideas on what I can make from them as I don't want to waste them.

    Thanks

You could make bubble and squeak with them. It goes a long way to disguise the taste. You could also put them in a soup instead of cabbage.

There's an older thread for sprout ideas. I'll add this thread to that one.

  • I have half a fairly large bag of B sprouts in the bottom of the fridge left from xmas. I am the only one who eats them and I don't like them that much.
Any ideas, can I blance them and freeze?

    Yes, definitely.

Just blanch for a few mins, cool and free-flow freeze. Once frozen, pop them into a bag and you won't have to use the whole lot in one go.

Or you could have them with some fried bacon and a little knob of butter.

freeze them flat and spread out first then bag up when frozen, so they don't stick together.
    I think?

    Yep, that's it.

Just place them on a baking sheet - one layer - and when they're frozen, pop them into a bag :)

    hi,
how about turning them into bubble and squeak patties?

Boil the sprouts and about the same amount of potatoes, mash both together with some butter, salt and pepper. Form into patties, then either freeze, or fry in some oil or bake in the oven. lovely with gravy on, carrots and vege sausages!
It's the start of the no takeaway challenge.
